Just wondering what to do for Michigan winters. Recently the winters havent been all that bad around here (SE MI). Do you recommend buying snow tires, second car.. what..

Just trying to gauge what I am getting myself into this winter.

I'd recommend getting snow tires, or a cheap car. I used the GTI w/ summer tires :iono: last winter, was alright until around January-March when it got, well not super bad not but good either, had a hard time with traction and I don't think I'll do that again b/c it was stupid. Hopefully I'll be using another car instead.

If you don't have All Seasons then I'd get a set of winter tires and some steelies or something like that mount them on

Yeah, last winter I drove in the 12" storm of December 1st on the stock 17" all season ContiProContacts and while it was alright, I got stuck on the base of a hill because I was stopped. But A/S really aren't too good after a decent amount of mileage in the snow, at least according to TireRack. I'm running steelies and winter tires this year.
