Any rural town really, but good luck finding work. Houses out here are around that price but everyone commutes towards the city for work.

I'd like to live somewhere with more trees, midwest isnt too great for that since everything was turned into farmland. Not really interested in living in a rural area, I live on the edge of downtown indianapolis now and I like being near other people/stuff to do

That's like any suburb of any major city, eh? All I can say is moving to Socal would probably be a mistake.

Suburbs outside of Chicago aren't bad, a little too populated for my liking but there's plenty of work in your field anddecent houses for sub $220k.

I used to live in Crystal Lake and Long Grove. One big issue I see is that my car will not pass emissions in Cook or Lake county, everything has been removed. I thought about looking around the Cary or Fox River Grove area but i'm not sure I want to move back to Illinois
