mFactory - journey to LSD begins

On Saturday 10/25/14 I noticed that mFactory posted some decent prices on their LSD and I took advantage of the pricing and purchased one for my 2008 DSG GTI. They had 20% off so instead of 999.00 got it for 799.00. Today is Tuesday and the part has arrived. I will be scheduling install asap. Order on Sat and it arrives on Tues... good start.

Well I got my estimate for the install from my chosen installer, AU Tuning in Huntington Beach. While some will gasp at the price I believe in having the "A" team do certain mods considering the downside and the expense of a DSG tranny. Anywho....$1200 is the quote. As soon as the bearings get here I am going to schedule the install. So this will turn out to be a 2000 dollar mod or 2045.96 for all parts and labor to be exact. I am going to the track (road course at Fontana Nov 9th) and that will serve as the comparison experience BEFORE LSD and then I will schedule the next available track day once the LSD is installed for the comparison run or I will do the run up to Big Bear and back on Highway 38 for a review.

There is one gasket inside the DSG trans that "should" be replaced. You can't get it from the dealership. I had to source one from the UK

Thanks .... now on a quest to find it.
How did you discover this was something that was important to replace if it isn't even listed as a part? Only people that know stuff like that are folks that do it for a living usually.

When I look up the gaskets it does appear in the exploded diagram. I will ask installers about it.
