Boost gauge light

So I have recently bought myself an 09 gti within the last two months and I absolutely love it. It came with a new south boost gauge but it does not light up with the rest of my dash at night. Does anyone know if I will just have to buy one that lights up or does this pod actually light up and something is wrong with it?

All you have to do is see if the wiring is hooked up. Reach under the steering wheel and pull the lever. Pull the steering wheel all the way towards you and down. Lock it. Then pull the trim off in the middle by the cluster. See if the wires go to the light switch which is what its usually tapped off of
