Just got tracking ##'s for the rest of the parts. Is there a magnet in the case of the 02Q? Is there any need for a magnetic drain plug?

Cool that you are going to do the LSD on your own. Only scary part to me is drilling out the rivets and I guess with a good drill press setup its not really a big deal. Would not want to do this without a lift etc.

Ordered a input shaft seal and a rear main on the recommendation of the shop. Added that to my list of parts.

The LSD kid didn't come with any shims, not sure if they are needed or if they should be ordered ahead of time.

New vs old:

Subtle but expensive change:

Clutch is going to take some getting used to, I've heard it breaks in significantly and has close to OEM feel. Right now its kinda of springy and bites hard. Haven't gotten a chance to test out the LSD, cant feel it work at all doing day to day driving.

My trans (Late 08 FSI) came with steel shift forks so I didnt need the ones I bought. Thought that was a change in 2012.

EDIT: The shop that installed it said that they did not have to use a shim to set the preload and said that this is pretty common on these transmissions. Is that legit?

Some folks are initially disappointed after dropping the $3k or so to do all this, but the LSD pays off big time at the track. Street driving not so much.

I've never felt a clutch change a whole lot, if at all after the install, but your left calf will get a bit stronger!

Drove <100mi and the pedal feel is much softer, probably 25% stiffer than stock. Feel has improved and it no longer engages in an off/on way and feedback is great.

I really hope it helps with the traction issues with spirited street driving, I am really excited to get it on a track to let the LSD shine. I am very used to driving with an open differential so I'm going to take it really easy.

All around I am very happy with everything.
