Uni Stg.1+ MK5 vs Stock MK6. Question inside
Today I raced my buddy for shits and giggles. We did it off a dig and he got a better launch than I did (wasnt paying attention to the light). By 2nd we were even at the top of 2nd I had maybe 2cars and at the top of 3rd I had a good 6 cars on him.
I was just wondering if thats a pretty normal result, car felt weird, like it had more to give (compared to how it felt before)

Some people say their cars felt awesome...
right before they blew their motors. lol run some logs and see if it's overboosting some place.

Maybe you just forgot to hit the NOS?
More to the point, what were the temperatures like? As the temps are creeping up, heat soak is starting to rear its ugly head. Could also be a boost leak somewhere. That often doesn't throw a code. Find someone with VAG-COM and get them to run some logs. Keep an eye on wastegate duty cycle and "actual" boost vs. requested. Post `em up here. |

Temps were normal, no lights, no strange noises. I'll try and find someone to check my Wastegate Duty Cycle
But it could have been that some of my stock intake broke. like the pipe peice that goes to the front grill. Maybe it heatsoaked a bit?

6 cars on a stock car, sounds like a lot, but still, the difference from a tuned to stock is huge, both cars have the same transmission?

![]() Both are manual, yes. It might be that I have more experience. Hes had his car for ~2 months, I've been fucking around with mine for more than a year.

That could certainly cost you some power, sure. Again, run some logs when you can. A little hard data goes a long way towards identifying issues.

The Lulz. You put 2 cars on him in 2nd and another 4 in 3rd? And that seems normal to you guys? Clearly he is still learning his car. A tune adds a whole lot to the powerband, but not enough to put 6 cars from 0-85 on the same car (within reason). Especially since he had a better launch. I'd expect those results from a run between a k04 GTI and a bone stock GTI.

Like I said, he had his car for 2 months. neither of our launches were anything to wright home about, wasnt hard to pull on him, I dont have a vid, but I promise you it did happen (for all its worth).

Granny shifting, not double clutching like you should.
It comes down to experience, sounds like your buddy is new to stick and probably not the most efficient when it comes to shifting quickly. Your car isnt some unicorn jet rocket. Your buddy just needs more time with the third pedal. |
