a big problem on this device is that it have only 64 ram, and All interface and programs are wince. So you may have memory problems. Still waiting for 6506.

DON'T BUY A WD6150 FROM WAYWELL!!

I have just opened a Paypal dispute AFTER installing the WD6150 on my MKVI by a well-established car audio professional and found at least the following problems:

1) No sound from the front-right audio channel no matter how we configured the fader, or how many times we reconfirmed the physical wire connection;

2) Very little AM radio reception no matter which AM channel we tuned to, or where in the area they tested the AM radio;

3) The unit provides a choice to operate with Chinese display but cannot recognize the Chinese characters from my SD card;

4) The unit's Bluetooth radio cannot read and store my entire phonebook from my cellphone to its memory, which contradicts to what the instruction menu describes.

Aside from the above issues, I found that the unit's GPS response is the slowest I have since in ANY GPS or mapping devices, including Google Maps on my iPhone. Sound quality is definitely worst then the OEM premium touch screen stereo made by Delphi.

The worst part was, when I complained to my sales contact at SZWaywell via MSN, they seemed to know they were selling a defective unit to me, but blamed it was me who wanted the WD6150 and not the popular WD6050!! Here is our MSN conversation:

Just tried the unit again...still no sound from FR...very weak AM signal.
...but FM is perfect.
Frank Waywell Sales says:
i told you the WD6150 is newest, do't work well
BiG BeaR is waiting for GOODS!! says:
You should sell it...
shouldn't
I have already spent $30 on Canada Customs, and $100 for installation...
Frank Waywell Sales says:
i recommonded 6050 to you
you just want 6150
BiG BeaR is waiting for GOODS!! says:
I am going to keep the rearview camera because they installed it nicely and it may work with other models.
...but the 6150 has better screen qualities.
Frank Waywell Sales says:
no, 6050 is also with good screen
BiG BeaR is waiting for GOODS!! says:
I don't know...if I exchange units that means I will have to pay for another DHL service.
Frank Waywell Sales says:
yes
BiG BeaR is waiting for GOODS!! says:
How about I keep the rear view camera, DHL you back this WD6150 and you paypal me back $500?
Or, if you want to save on shipping I can use CanadaPost with tracking.
Either cases I have already lost Canada Customs, installation and uninstallation costs...which is close to $200!
Frank Waywell Sales says:
sorry, i can't back you 500usd

Hi quach128 and all have a wd6150, i find how by pass the restriction video by running:
go to the setting, setting NAV and un-check the bouton "PK" and enjoy...

If the door is not opened the unit will remain on.

Theres a couple issues that are really bugging me with this unit.

1. There is a major ground loop issue with the unit. A constant buzzing noise comes from the speakers when my lights are switched on, and increases in pitch as the engine revs. I have tried unplugging the antennas, and still there is noise. My conclusion that its coming from the deck itself.

2. I have a MFD 1. and the up/down arrow keys do not work to change track. Only the volume up/down and mute, telephone key works.

3. Due to the ground loop in the unit, the external mic is also affected and is very poor sound quality because of all the noise. This almost renders the bluetooth phone useless.

4. Cannot watch video while the handbrake is down. The video display says "Warning do not watch to Master" This is by far the MOST ANNOYING thing with this unit. Since the decks ebrake is going through a canbus decoder, there is no brake wire you can ground to bypass the ebrake lock. The point of having a 170Km/h DTV tuner support is so you can have the tv whilst driving right? This makes almost makes the unit useless for me. My passengers cant watch TV or watch DVD when im driving.

5. TV reception. I baught a 90DB active antenna for this unit, and still the DTV reception is piss pooor. I live in sydney, australia and cant even pick up channel 7,9 or 10 unless im in the CBD and stationary.

6. The GPS. On the 6050 there is a button which looks like 2 arrows in a circle next to the eject button. This button enables audio priority between your GPS app and radio, dvd, ipod etc... the wd6150 does not have this button. Even though it is stated in the specs that there is "Dual Audio - can watch GPS while listen to radio" This is still very buggy. When I have the radio on, then switch to GPS, the radio will work while the GPS is running.... for a few minutes, then it switches off and permanently prioritizes the GPS audio over the radio. Therefore, watching the GPS while having the radio on is not possible.

if any of the above matter to you then, i would re-consider buying this unit. Or if you know how to fix these issues yourself then by all means help me out while your at it!

Ive sent 4 emails to Fish at waywell about the ebrake lock, and havent recieved any replies at all. I really dont think they care.

Anyway you get what you pay for, the GUI on the interface is by far the best i have seen for a china unit. however just a few issues can ruin the experience of this unit.

I want to sell my WD6150 as is...I can't do much about weak AM reception, maybe it's a regional problem. For the FR channel issue, it may be overcame by bridging the FL channel to the FR as well and lose half the power on each channel. The unit is brand new and has been installed and uninstalled professionally for one day, with all wires and connectors restored to like new condition, box and user manual and all. Any offers?

I have tomtom but no australian maps for it yet. But it does the same thing with Igo 8 and Igo Amigo.

you can hear the radio sound for a while then it cuts off, i thuought it was the speedcam warning sounds overiding, but its very random. Sometimes the sound turns off after 1 minute, sometimes 10 minutes

Sadly In cannot recommend WD6150 unit. It is a diff brand than WD6050.
The freezing of the screen using Nav programs and the sound cut also is just not on. Few other issue too as I see in posts above so I wont repeat.

Well....Ive returned unit and swapped for another WD6050, this time 800 x 480 same as Morty above . ( cost me freight x 2 )
When I get it I will write it up on the http://www.golfmkv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=74855 thread.

Hope you chaps with issues work them out..

cheers Bazzle

Bazzle, can you recommend me which unit to swap to, I am returning my unit to Frank as it has a million problems and I can obviously only do an exchange for another with no refund. What model number works WELL. I miss my MK1 WD6050, that thing had zero issues and worked 100%. My new unit has GPS signal that dies off for no reason and gets zero satellites some days, 11 on others. And the screen is malfunctioning as it thinks I am pressing the lower right side repeatedly. Junk unit, I'm hoping frank will let me swap it for a different one. Shipping is on me obviously.

Thanks Bazzle! Are you regretting the new unit too?>

Might want to consider

http://www.audiosources.net/viewproduct.asp?id=995

I've been running this one for 3 months now, with no real problems.

2 very minor.

1) To me, red light buttons are a little lower than OEM.
2) Still can't upload phone contacts, but it does hold memory on numbers called.

pretty sure waywell won't give me a refund, just an exchange, if I'm lucky... but that is a great unit. I want to know people's experience with the newer Waywell units..

Hey guys,

I want to know if anyone has successfully installed either of these units in a 2006 passat 2.0 T I'm thinking of buying this unit from this seller on ebay
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/for-V...%3D5%26ps%3D63

The seller said that it hasn't been tested on the 2006 passat but it should work except for the CAN BUS, I googled it but just got confused! Can someone please advise?

Thanks for the reply tdi130,

darn, my hopes were so high

Any recommendations for the 2006 passat? I was trying to avoid an after market unit and my budget is around $ 500 USD...
