Running boost / vacume hosing question
Ok I am at the point where I think i'm going to add a Boost Gauge. Before I just jump in there and try and drill any holes or punch threw the wiring harness boot I wanted to know if there was a good place to run the hose from engine compartment to cab/steering column. I know that there are plenty of people out there that have already done this.
So what did you do?

There is an exisiting hole in the firewall behind the battery. Thats where most people run the line. Its tough to explain where it is, you're just going to have to get in there and look for cables, etc., going through the firewall.

if you have dsg then just run it through the clutch hole. I have my vacuum line and my amplifier power wire running through there.

Remove the battery cover & the battery itself and then you'll see a bunch of wires going thru a rubber grommet on the firewall There's a bunch of "nipples" on that rubber grommet.....use a hanger to poke thru (from the inside of the cabin) & then run your boost gauge tubing to the boost tap. I then also routed my boost gauge tubing in the channel underneath the battery & then piggybacked some tubing/wiring with some zip ties to keep it secure

It's easier to start from the inside and then go into the engine bay though

Run an electric boost gauge and screw the boost line. I did this before and I got tired of boost leaks.

Done correctly there shouldn't be any boost leaks....just zip tie all the connections tight

Yea theres rubber areas on the firewall where other wires and what not are run through. I used a DIY on here to figure out where exactly. I removed the batter and cover to access the firewall. Then just took a wire hanger, straightened it out, taped the boost hose to the end of it, and punched the hanger through the rubber area into the interior of the car. Then just run the hose to the gauge and you are done.

This boost gauge tap will make your install so much easier. No cutting of hoses, etc.
