How would that help them anyways its not like we all have barcode scanners at home. There is probably a "Suggested retail price" on there from US general. I would also go so far as to say they aren't buying these from HF and selling them. Holy conspiracy theory batman.
+1 agree that...

Yeah, there are others for Android, as well. I've pretty much gone to using ShopSavvy exclusively, as I've found it to have better market coverage. It's saved me loads of money. Enough that the phone has paid for itself multiple times over, in fact.

I've found that trim tool set at dozens of retailers.. most have Harbor Freight-like pricing. ECS was an exception; their markup was substantially higher.

Newsflash: ECS is not the cheapest place to source tools or parts from!

ECS fucked me over very nicely today. I ordered one of the clearance premium 7 units from them on the weekend. Was at the dealer this morning and asked if they still had the headunits in stock, and they did. I figured I'd already ordered it and didn't need to be greedy and pick up another. Sure enough, ECS calls me this afternoon and tells me they are out of them, and of course now the dealer is sold out too.

Thanks, ECS. You're a bunch of asshats.

Fer chrissakes, yeah, what HORRIBLE service, they actually used a phone, and called you to explain what happened to your order. Unlike most of the other real asshat retailers who would never have bothered.

:

I've made many orders from ECS, never had a problem, their site is way better than most others, and they stock a lot of stuff. Probably one of the better parts pimps out there. As someone else said, some parts might be a buck or two more, but its cheaper to put all your shit in one box and ship it, than order a bunch of little boxes of shit from all over hell and back and pay more for shipping.

Wow - you're an idiot. Should I thank them for screwing me over?

I've never dealt with any retailer that wouldn't call when they screwed up. ECS knew these were a limited stock item, how hard is it to enter the number they had left in stock into the system?

And they offered me nothing in term of compensation. I lost out on a great deal because they can't use their own computer system.

With the number of people who most likely got one of those HUs at that ridiculous low price a screw up somewhere is very possible. It happens. Does it warrant you calling them an "asshats?" No. They called you and informed you when they realized their mistake. They could have not and BSed you or led you along thinking you'd get one. Have you tried calling other dealerships near you or have you decided ranting about it on the internet is a better way to get one?

Were they even open over the weekend to do any type of order processing when you had placed it? Or was it just an online transaction kind of deal. Most businesses don't process orders over the weekend, which would explain why they didn't get back to you about it until today...just some food for thought for future reference.

Not processing an order and not being open is still not an excuse for not having online inventory. Am I the only person here who understands that stock supplies can be automated? If someone buys something online, you have one less of them. When you are out of them, you are out of stock. Its not rocket science, and they do it all over the rest of their website. They, intentionally or unintentionally, did not do that this time. They also didn't call me until 3pm, 6 hours after they opened. They offered me nothing after that - not even an apology. I don't understand how you can run a business that way. I'll never use them again, that's for sure.

its common knowledge ECS marks up their merch pretty badly, but its also commpn knowledge they have what you need about 90% of the time. Its like bitching about the circle k charging more than walmart for a pepsi. you pay for convenience

Their website kicks some very serious ass, you have to give them that. Love that many of the 'kits' have hot-linked, itemized lists of the components that go into it. And seriously, how many photos of a repair wire can they show?

By that reasoning, the whole world has screwed you over, and everyone who has more than you do owes you something.

If ECS didn't give you a refund, that's getting screwed over. I suspect they offered a refund and apology on the phone, but you've left those inconvenient facts out of the story. If not, please enlighten us.

Of course things CAN be automated, but 1) nothing is perfect and 2)a proper system like that is sure to be expensive. What type of industry do you think you're working with here? Let's be real here, as I don't think that is top priority on many companies holiday wish list.

Perhaps they should have at least apologized, but anything more and I think it's unreasonable. Just because a company's stock has been depleted doesn't mean that they should start handing out store credit left and right. When something goes out of stock, it goes out of stock. It's not the company's fault that it went out of stock and is no longer available when it's something of limited availability.
