Yes. On the FSI motor, the stock intake is part of your engine cover. Since this intake replaces the entire stock intake system you must remove the engine cover to make this intake fit. Some people do trim (cut) their engine covers to make them fit with intakes like this, or you can purchase aftermarket covers that work with this intake. The third option is to run with no engine cover which of course will not harm anything.

Didn't even notice you had an 09. Correct, this is only for the FSI engines so it will not work on your 09. Sorry, I should have noticed that sooner.
