LOGS!

Okay so I did my best to get reproducible logs. There isn't really any place around here when I can redline even 3rd gear, so I usually kill my logs at 5000 rpm (I'm generally not interested in what goes on beyond 5000 rpm anyway since I almost never rev that high).

Both of these logs were taken on the same on-ramp on my drive home from work. I take this ramp the same way every day: start in 1st gear, get into 3rd as quickly as possible, then WOT to 5000rpm, then let off the gas and merge onto the highway. All of this was done in D, not in manual mode. I've gotten very used to the way the DSG shifts in D and know how to get it to shift when I want.

I've plotted against time because the progression of the IAT both before and after the pull is important, and very different between the two runs. Weather conditions were similar, it was a few degrees warmer today when I took the AWE log than it was last week when I did the OEM log.

My analysis of the results are this. The boost builds almost identically. The shift points are a little different so its difficult to just overlap the data, but overall both boost curves look remarkably similar.

The IAT curve says it all. After the pull, with the AWE kits, the IAT comes down way faster, even though it was hotter that day. The OEM set-up remains hotter for long. This is exactly what I expected to see.

What's that little "bump" in boost caused by when you let off the gas? Is that good?

Good catch - I noticed that too. I didn't let off of the throttle as much on the AWE log as I did on the OEM log. That spike was actually requested. Here's the request log

Not to bump an old thread or anything,

but i installed this same kit last week. I like it alot. I did noticed a slight decrease in throttle response, but nothing major.

Definately a quality kit

yea, you would need that also. but with the price of that thing, you would be better off either just getting a silicone 90 degree coupler or just buying the eurojet EA pipe.

i think even with the EJ EA pipe you'd still need an appropriately sized 90deg silicone hose. the 90deg they EJ supplies with the EA is intended to go on the aft-facing end of the pipe and connect to a port/fitting on your intake, i think. although i could be wrong and maybe it would fit onto the TB pipe alright...?

no, the eurojet EA pipe comes with a 90 degree coupler that goes to the throttle body pipe. If you get the eurojet dv relocation kit, it comes with a 45 degree coupler that goes down and connects to the intake coupler they provide.

exactly, I'm not using the dv relocate kit. To me it's a matter of preference. It's a good kit though.
