i dont get it either. i did 14.2 but my boy with the same exact setup did high 13 with like a 103 trap if i remember correctly.
it drove me nuts. and on my last run my clutch slipped hard through like all 4 gears and i ran like a 25.8 @ 51MPH |

I ran a 14.1 & a 13.9 last Wednesday when it was sunny & like 70 degrees
It cooled off to 54 degrees about 4 hours later & couldn't get traction, and ran a 14.4 Helps if the track is hot/warm (for traction)

Yea I went 14.20 @ 99.53mph with Stage 1 & a Neuspeed CAI on factory 18" huffs dropped to 30psi. I was hitting 2.2 60'ft's. Practice that shifting & get the 42DD & FFE Bushings, together they make a world of difference.

Really?
That's a low trap speed for a manual then. The DSG's usually trap that speed

You need more cowbell. Problem solved.
Try loading up the gearbox rather than dumping the clutch. Eg handbrake up... ease clutch out and apply throttle so that car wants to creep forwards.. as yelllows drop rev it upppp and drop the hand brake. Lots of fast cars get much faster times whe they ease off the line with controlled wheelspin rather than a balls out launch that could possibly get a faster time but almost never hooks up right. If it was 4wd turbo I would advise the "REV TO 6k and drop it like its hot" method... this is fastest but is savage on your driveline if you have a solid clutch.

Throwing the hand brake into the equation (for a beginner) seems like it's gonna be trickier, lol

Once staged you have hand brake up and you also have feet in the position they will be at when you go. Clutch and Gas. Now there is no need to move your foot from the brake to the gas. Also by loading up the gearbox it causes the drivetrain gear faces to meet. This reduces shock and is much kinder. Because you are loading up the gearbox all the gears and parts move slightly and touch each other... In the same way that a punch causes more shock and damage than pushing someone from a position where your hand is touching them already. So in summary: 1. handbrake helps you stage the lights and stay still 2. it allows your feet to be in the final position. 3. it allows you to load up the gearbox which engages the drivetrain, reducing shock and also removes any "drivetrain lag" as things engage. 4. You get better feel of the clutch point and you can control your launch revs easier. 5. clutch gets less shock and is more likely to grip rather than slip heaps and then grip. 6. You can practice this technique without moving. Just engage hand brake and play with the feeling of loading up the clutch slightly so that car is "leaning" on the brake. 7 To launch just drop brake as you floor it and release clutch at same time... so its basically your right foot goes flat while your other leg and hand disengage what they are doing.

Hmmm...does make sense!
I guess it just sounds weird (to me) to have your hand on the e-brake instead of the shifter when launching, lol

One thing that I found helpful was to use a hose clamp on the e-brake handle to hold a small strap over the brake release button. The strap holds the button down so you don't have to concentrate on holding it in with your thumb.
It's kind of embarassing to launch with the e-brake on. Also useful in ice races when you want to do a handbrake turn like the rally guys do.

So now you're APR Stage II & you lost about 2mph? (13.932 @ 101.79) I don't think so...
