Need help with Vag Com 704 and remote windows.

I'm new to the whole Vagcom VW thing. I did get a cheaper Alpha Bid cable and Vag Com 7.04 from a member here. It allows me to access the right controller (Central Convenience 46). I can go into Long code and then the helper and change the codes if I want. I have checked:

Comfort opening power windows via remote control active
Comfort closing power windows via remote control active

But I didn't check the Sunroof one since she doesn't have it. Is there anything else I need to do. I made the mistake of hitting transfer coding then hit "DO IT", and nothing happened. When I went back in the boxes were still checked but when I held the Unlock on the FOB, nothing.

I'm sure I am missing something. Any help would be great. Thanks.

There is more than one place you need to change to make the windows work from the remote.
Just telling them to open and close from the remote is not enough, you must also enable the function by un-checking bit 5 in Byte 6 of Central Convenience.

This set enables / disables the ability to use the comfort close / comfort open


This set enables window functions


This set enables sunroof functions

Comfort Function automatic Closing Byte 6 - bit 6

Providing safety considerations allow (i.e. the car is not used to transport children, etc) ...
When you go back in, you might consider changing Byte 6 - bit 6 to ON also.
I did so after I had captured the above sample screenshot.
With bit 6 on, when closing windows, once the windows start moving you can release the remote lock button and the windows and sunroof (if equipped) will finish closing on their own (the automatic part). When bit 6 is off, you must hold the remote to complete the process. Releasing halts movement immediately.

I am a little surprised there is no equivalent for opening the windows. When opening, you must always hold the remote unlock button (someone please correct me if I am wrong :wink:)

Correct. It also seems like you have to be closer to the car to get the remote-down to work...my remote-up works from maybe 20-30 feet away but my remote down from only like 10.
