Stock GTI shift knob too hot?

It's not even summer yet, and the friggin' stock shift knob was REALLY hot while the car just sat in the sun this afternoon. I couldn't believe how hot it was, just sitting in the sun for 3 hours.

Anyone else get scorched by their OEM shift knob yet? Time to upgrade to the golf ball?

Can't you shift from the side? Or grab lower?

I like grabbing lower. The shifts feel shorter.

I would love the be able to complain that it is so hot that my shift knob heat up. 50degrees and cloudy hear today.

I don't know about the shift knob, but I had a hot pair of shades when I went back to the car yesterday. They were in the little storage area above the rear-view mirror and I had left the sunroof cover back, essentially focusing the heat on that spot. I won't do that again in a hurry :redface:
