So would there be any downside to using the NGK BKR7EIX in a stock application? I may be chipping the car eventually, but I do need to change my plugs I have noticed a slight stumble at idle.
Just wondering if running them now while I am stock has any downsides or if I should just put in new stock plugs??
thank you

Every FSI I've ever seen seems to stumble at idle now and then. My car did it stock so it may not be the plugs.

FWIW, we send out NKG PFR7Q and PFR7B plugs gapped to .028 with our stage 3 kits. I've run those in my car and the iridium plugs as well. Never noticed a difference between any of them honestly. The way the race cars are tuned they must run the iridium plugs though but street tuners are never that aggressive.

Lastly, don't run the 3 prong R8 Plugs. I've seen too many issues with those in several different 2.0T FSI applications.

Bascially its between just buying stock replacements or getting the NGK's that are one heat range colder.

Those new plugs are Hotter temp range than the old plug prob help with cold start mis-fires. IMO different plugs match up to different SW company , richer AFR like apr runs better with hotter plug. You may find a 100 oct tunes that tune leaner AFR will like a bit cooler. Then the seaonal wether plays into this too (colder weather likes hotter plug / warmer weather like colder plug ) and when spraying W/M it likes hotter plug. This is all general rule of thumb and you need to trial and error untill you get what works better in your cars setup and location. P.S. if the car feels like a flat spot and stumbles the plugs are to cold. Hope this helps. Bob. G:thumbsup:
