I actually went to the dealer today and they were aware of the TSB. They have a body shop in house so they did a estimate right on the spot and are submitting to VW. The guy said I should be all set. Thanks again for the info.

I had the same problem on my '08. Just got it back from the dealer and they modified the door pillars somehow. It was covered under warranty. They listed it on the n/c invoice as "Tech Bulletin 20145999 Repair Water Drain"

He also recommended immediately driving a car on a cold morning because it builds up heat in the engine and warms the oil quicker. :drinking:

This is actually correct. Idiling will not get your engine up to full temp and just burns gas. Your best off driving conservatively (keeping your RPMS low and shifting early) to warm up the engine and transmission the fastest. You want to get the car up to heat to help burn off the water in the oil. If you don't think there is water in the engine in these cars, take a look at the catch can thread to see the crap the cans are pulling out of engines in cold weather.

Back on topic. I'll take a look at my 08 tomorrow to see what the weather stripping looks like. Thanks for the heads up.

My 2006 GTI had this happen this year, VW dealership here said they could do nothing for me, but they're retarded to start with. Thanks for posting the .pdf(s).

I actually had my dent guy bump it back in, and it looks okay. I didn't cut the paint, just bent the door a little bit. I'd love to get this fixed under warranty, but since its an 06, i don't think it is under bumper to bumper (1-06 build date)

Your warranty should be based off the purchase date, not the build date, so if you bought new in say Dec 2008, then your warranty is good from there.

But if you bought used then it would be based off when the first owner bought it.
