It's a very easy fix. A couple of turns with an allen wrench and your good to go.

so then the answer is that they do actively level (as in during squat/dive/bumps), but the whole system gets screwed if you mod your suspension?

I'd think that given how many people do suspension on these cars, there'd be a lot more upset people...

hmm, i dropped mine a little on springs and now the headlights only go about 8 feet in front of me and they wobble everywhere areound turns. but it makes me pay more attention when im driving, i kinda look like this :eyebulge:
"where them deer at? "

That seems to be a common problem after suspension work.
Aparently when the suspension is disassembled a headlight leveling sensor can get flipped into an incorrect position (there are two, one front and one rear).

If the above error is the problem, it will not be possible to adjust the headlights into spec without first correcting the sensor problem (click the quoted picture for the repair procedure).

The owners manual says HIDs adjust dynamicaly while driving.

just noticed the same problem. i finally got my car back after a month at the body shop and only the left headlight is autoleveling at startup. i checked out both of the sensors and they're correct so its back to the body shop. :barf:

I seem to be having the same problem now. They aren't autoleveling on start and they seem to jump up/down with the car instead of correcting themselves.

Got my car lowered on FK's and my lights were super low that same night. I decided to check the leveling sensors the next day and they are both pointed toward the drivers side. I got a CEL the following day but thought it was my DP that was installed at the same time of the coilovers. I've since then adjusted my headlights by hand and it hasn't tried to go back to "home." :iono:

I guess i'll just have to get it vag-com'd.
