Driving Tunes?

So what do we all like to listen to in our Golfs?

Lately if I have been going on a solo mission I have been listening to Kraftwerk - Tour de France Soundtracks. Really really good for driving to!

For normal cruising I either just put my iPod on random and let the music choose itself.. But generally the iPod will find its way back to Sloan (best band in the friggin universe!), Spiderbait, Foo Fighters, The Strokes, Kings of Leon, Kiss, Wolfmother... actually it is pretty hard to narrow down my taste. Most usually rock, but when driving hard I like electronic music. I found it really helps to focus when I am concentrating.

If I'm punting it I switch the music off. I like to be able to hear how the car is coping. :w00t:

Otherwise a bit of this and a bit of that, usually indie rock.

Something different

Ride of the Valkyries !!! Hey it IS Wagner - could anything be more poetic in a German car ??

And for something starting slow with frenetic build up of pace and a crescendo to match the end .. In the Hall of the Mountain King !!!

But when going hard, no music, nothing to break the concentration, just that sweet turbo, DSG changes and the tires gripping for dear life is all the music one needs.

I just keep on muting the music during hard punts & cornering. Between that and checking different functions on the MFD I reckon I will wear out the wheel buttons within the warranty period....

Out of love for the car
I was just discussing this with Johno at the meet yesterday. I feel lonely in the car when I have anything other than the radio on. But the CD's I have are the latest by Maroon 5, Powderfinger and Eskimo Joe, as well as some random other CDs like Best of Powderfinger and Best of Billy Joel etc. I have a strange, rather varied taste in music.

Cheers

Hmm toughie, depends on my mood. I'll limit my selection to aggressive driving & cruising ones. All time faves would have to be (provided youtube links for those curious to hear):

Stan Bush - :brokenheart: You Got The Touch (Transformers: The Movie 1986) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fB0_vJUc3o4&mode=related&search=

Rammstein - Ich Will :headbang: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f2y4uTdF4cQ

Billy Squier - The Stroke :bellyroll: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLHc-yIAPbg

Clint Mansell - Requiem for a Dream (Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BybTNK9HwWE

Ian Van Dahl - Inspiration Paradise Remix 2006  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GPu0A__1mOk

:burnrubber:

PS ~ Not ashamed to say it but whenever I watch Optimus Prime kicking ass and dying in the 1987 movie, my eyes tear up
