Is there a way to reset the ECU as if you disconected the battery with the VAG Com?

I don't think so because the ECU is a EPROM chip so it would just hold his info when you disconnect the battery. Once programmed, an EPROM can be erased only by exposing it to strong ultraviolet light.

I just wasn't sure if you could reset it to the way the car was when it came off the asembly line so it would relearn everything without disconecting the battery.

clearing the codes will reset the fuel trims. at least, it did on my b5.

Just so everyone knows there is a way. You go into the engine section and clear the DTC's. If ou do this and then go get the car smog certified it will probably fail. You have to drive it for a bit before all the sensors fully test and respond to the ECU.

yeah, i had that happen on my b5. just drove around for 1-2 hours, and it reset the readiness codes.
