Great forum... was looking for this before I bought... but know is good!

I got a Golf 1.9 TDi and just want to clarify some issues for my peace of mind.

1. Rattle - I have a humming rattle that is very load when I pull away from the lights? sounds like it is from the centre console. But very hard to pin point.
I am sure this is not normal, just want to check if anyone have/had the same problem and what it was?

2. only 13000km on the clock and already lost a globe on the tail light? is this just bad luck?

Other than that... happy as a pig in sh!t! Feels like a new car everyday I get into it... guess thats why I am so paranoid with the above problems! :frown:

I have a 1.9 TDI comfortline also and I can say that the only rattle I have is at the rear passanger side (possibly the C pillar but not yet confirmed). The car only has 600km on it at the moment so hopefully no more develop.

As for the globe.... These things happen me thinks.

I'm glad there's another TDI're here.. There aren't too many of us!

my car came with a busted globe for the registration plate.

no rattles yet in my gti.

but there is a slight griding noise when you turn left on our golf 1.9 tdi.
only 7000 kms and i just started hearing it.
might need to contact dealer soon.

trust me the issues you have with VW cars are nothing compared with holdens...my current car, a astra AH, i've had the engine mount bolt break 3 times, front suspension rebuilt twice, exhaust system broke of mounting, lots of squeeks...and also believe it or not, when i use my window washers, the wipers wipe the window twice before the spray comes out, and i was told this is how it was designed

Goneincognito --- Yes the TDi is great! so economical. Going to work (no freeway) I get 5.9 L/100km on average, you?

The globe problems solved! Went to the dealer this morning before work, they replaced it on the spot no charge, was impressed with that!

Taking it for a service in Dec. and they said they will take it for the day, and sort out the rattle. see how it goes!

thats good to hear.
its good to see that good service is still out there.
my dealer is excellent. always willing to help out.
i was able to get free touch up paint for my GTI. and free engine oil for the life of my car!! ( i change oil every 5000 kms)

My rear number plate light was out when I got the car too. Dealer changed it without any problems.

Other than that, I've done 7,500 kms and have just got an airbag fault warning, so my dealer can fix that one!

I do have some rattles which are annoying and a minor defect in the leather, but all in all the car feels like a high quality vehicle.

My dad freaked me out the other night when he said; "Hey, one of your reverse lights isn't working!"
Then I realised it's because the other side is the fog light.
