Has anyone ever done it?

I don't want the results to be permanent so i figured this would be a safe way to go.

My local auto parts sells window tint film, can this be safely applied to the tail lights? Can I also expect decent results?

What % tint film would you recommend, without going too dark?

Thanks

that's a negative

window tint won't lay right on your tails.. way to many curves, you need laminx or a tinted vinyl

x2...where can i get tinted vinyls?

And how dark does the film have to be in order to achieve something that is no darker than this:....

BTW: if i do go for the R32 look and I decide to use tint spray...can anybody confirm if its permanent? Can it be removed with paint thinner?

I think either 'gunsmoke' or 'smoked' would work.

Can it be removed with paint thinner?

Noooo. You will destroy the tail lights.

I have done mine. Got the film off of Ebay (search for "tint tail") It is not the common window tint. On the back of the film is says, Oracal 8300 transparent cel. Looked it up here (http://www.oracal.com/products/product.asp?seriesID=201#)

It takes some time to get it right because there are a lot of curves on the lights. Goes on like normal window tint. Got the look that I wanted for cheap. See below. Its an old pic but who cares...
