I am in the middle of an audio install, and the interior covers for the B-Pillars need to be removed. I wiggled them around a little and seem to have loosened all the clips by the back window, but it seems to be held real tight somewhere in the middle. Please let me know if you have succesfully removed them, and if there is an airbag there. i hope removing this will not cause my airbags to deploy.
also, now it seems that my seatbelt will not roll back up as smooth as it used to. man i hope i dont have to take this in to the dealer!

im guessing there is a airbag in there since it has a big airbag sign on the pillar.

Curtain airbags are stored there. I wouldn't recommend disassembling that, nor wiggling it, and if it's loose now I'd suggest taking it to VW and getting it refitted tightly to prevent anything bad from happening in the event of an accident.

really? i just went out there and looked under one of the corners with a flashlight and all, and there doesnt seem to be anything under that cover other than the seat belt mechanism.

Be safe....you don't want an airbag deploying in your face....that usually doesn't warrant a fun time.

 i just figured it out and took apart the cover. there is definetely no airbag under there! i am 100% sure. it is all just one plastic piece of trim, no wires, connections, sensors, harnesses of any kind.

LOL, VW Word>You, not to be rude, but VW is not about to liew to me and say their is an airbag under there when there isn't. not to mention i have seen one go off in the GTI so i know its up their. Anyways, why would you run audio stuff through the roof? its harder/longer to do, just run it under the panels in the floor.

no actually i am removing this panel because it makes removing the rear door cards sooooo much easier. it is almost impossible to remove them without taking this piece out first cuz the rear door cards are held in by this piece at the top.
i am gonna take a picture soon, so you guys can see what im talking about them not being there. last night i reassembled them, so im just gonna wait till i need to disassemble them again. i guess we're down to one of three possibilities...
1) they're not there period
2) they are located under the headliner's edge
3) only i got shafted with no airbags there!

There is no airbag behind the cover. I've had it apart before. You need to pry off the Airbag badge and behind it is a torx screw. On the side closest to the window there are 3 clips. Play around with it after you loosen the torx screw.
