View Full Version : Are US.GOLFS higher than EUROPEAN?

I dont know why but in all the pics ive seen us golfs are higher than european ones..It could be a coilovers matter but all of them looks more 4x4.
or maybe its me...

ups.. theese examples are not the good ones..coz one of it has the 18" and the other one wears 19"
ill try to find out another ones.

Yep, US models ride about 0.5" higher than the corresponding European models. Something to do with bumper regulations in the US.
This subject has been discussed extensively... Do a search on "Euro springs".
US spec had taller springs to meet dumb US regulations.
Euro ride height is approximately 22mm lower.
The springs themselves are about 13mm shorter that the US one.
The shocks are the same.
Hence, the US aligment specs are comparable to the Euro standard GOLF.
This affects not only ride height but overall handling noticeably.

no, just 17s and 18s. VW doesn't have any 19" wheels in option specially for the GTI

Nah, he's just wrong, wheels on both of those cars are 18s.
