These tires are amazing. Can you picture how incredible these tires would look on the a gti mkv with the redline trim and the red calipers? I searched online but the only red line tires I could find were for classic cars and not low profiles. I checked TireRack.com as well as bridgestone, toyo, etc. Does anyone know where I can find these tires? More pictures here.....http://paultan.org/archives/2005/11/15/volkswagen-jetta-r-gt/

yes the rims are amazing, I will continue to look as well thanks to all for the help. I think they would look beautiful on any of the colors because of the calipers and red line trim.....they look even better while in motion check out the link.

Acutally according to the designers and straight out of Eurotuner's March '06 issue those aren't a "red line" on the tires. Actually, it is part of the lip of the rim that they painted orange to break up the overall dark look of the anthracite rim and black tire.

cant be lip.....if it were the lines are so far out there would be no room for rubber.

according to pics in a magazine in Belgium here, that red line runs along the tire almost 1" of the edge of the rim

not arguing, jsut making the comment taht if you look closely at the pictures it seems almost impossible.

if you look good you can see where the rim ends and where the rubber starts. It's almost 1" from that point to where the red line is positioned, so like you said and what I meant with my earlier post is that that red line never can be part of the lip of the rim

I'm sorry, but it is on the tire, but it is something that VW did to the tire, and is not an option from Michelin. They are Michelin Pilot Sport tires which do not have any kind of colored side wall. The only tires I've ever seen with color were those with the colored treads, and not on the side. It's been awhile since those were on the market as far as I know anyway. We all have to remember that these are just show cars and hardly anything on these cars is available to the consumer. I can't wait to see what they do for the 2006 Sema Show with the GTI and the 2.0T engine!

Guys, Calm down now and take a deep breath. I have found the Tires with the red stripe. Unfortunatly I was not able to post it yet as for I was having problems with my computer last night. It is back up and running now and soon as I get home I will post the site where I found them. The closest size I found was 235 40x18, only changes the speed by 1 MPH, there is a .315 diffrence in diameter and 1.24% diffrence. If i plugged the right numbers into the tire configurer.

Thanks for the attempt, but I have seen these already, they do not come in teh appropriate size and are only really for restos on classics, because many older musle cars actually came with those red line tires from the factory, but the sizes are definately not the correct size for the GTI. But thanks for trying.

and what do you mean they would come without the line?
that I think that those Michelin tires are just normal high performance tires where the VW engineers just painted a thin red line on to give it a more sportive look

dude diamond back classic radials have a 235 40x18 and that like i said earlier is not much diffrence than what is on the 18's now. if you have the 17's they have sizes for those as well. and as for only for resto cars they even sell for 20" rims.
http://dbtires.com/catalog.htm I feel is the place to go.
Ill also put a picture in from their catalog. The pic has all the 18 sizes.
just click on the online catalogue and it will give you all the picture pages you need to search. They even have a custom size link, to call them and i am pretty sure they will be able to work something out.

I contacted the wheel company on picking up a set , He told me that the wheels where a one off for sema and might make to production and the tires where Mich. and the stripe was painted on afterwards.
Now ,only if we had this much research , we could solve JFK's murder
...its just a red line... LIKE HOTWHEELS!! FTW!!!

THOSE ARE HOT!
I want 'em! Either that or with a yellow or blue stripe... I'm thinking a blue stripe would look good because of my car colour, but red would still be favourite.
Heh, maybe paint 'em onto the next set I buy... I'll be due in a few thousand miles again. Or is painting tyres a tad too geeky?

they make rims with red lips....i forgot what kind are these but they'd look good on a black mkv....
What was old is new again... are you guys not old enough to remember the red-lined wheels that were a trademark of the HotWheels brand?

on the cover of the april 06' issue of superstreet there is a s2k with a redlip on either the tires or the rims, its pretty hard to tell. but the tires are yokohama advan a048 and the rims are rays ce28's. i looked both of them up but neither had the red line on them. the rims on the s2k look pretty similar to the ones on that tiburon pictured above. im guessing people are just painting them on. :iono:

iLikeGTI, you are correct, the Tibby rims are Tenzo-R Mach 10s.
The redline rim shpeel was broken down a few weeks ago in a long thread.
As far as redlining your tires...
