Service related question.

I have an 07 GTI. So my dealer has me doing oil changes every 5k.I went to the VW website to see what they recommend for 20k service since for some reason its over 3 times the cost of an oil change. From what I can tell they recommend oil change at 5k, 10k, then every 10,000 miles from that point on. Am I reading this right???

Plus, what in the world would make this service cost $225 vs. the $70 they charge for an oil change?

I have no idea why it would cost that much.

However, changing your oil the first time at 5k should be required.

And i would change it every 6k after that . . . at least that is what I will be doing.

VW and most other brands rip people off for the "interval check up services" that are usually just an oil & oil/air filter change and general inspection. If you are not doing your own service, ask the local group here who a reputable independent VW mechanic is that can perform the same service at a fraction of the cost.
