I said days ago, that I was not going to post any more threads on this forum, but the importance of this thread and the security of all of us is much more than my interest.

I start to hear a noise on the front right wheel, I took it to the service 2 times and they say everything was OK, but I still heard it, yesterday driving to work I could not stand the noise and I was completely sure that it was something wrong with my car, I stop at another dealer and I ask to jump on a ride with me, the service guy was amazed, and offer immediately to work on the car, they lift the car and started to look for something loose, and yes after taking the wheel out, the center bolt was almost loose, I turned with my fingers, so, I you have time, and you drive hard this GTI, GLI, go on and check your car every now and then, because it could ended in something worst, they change (warranty) ball bearing and many other parts¡¡¡

Cheers

if you are dropped or have a suspension mod, and did not replace the axle bolt, this is a prime example on why you do so.

and stick around fgt, dont take shit we say so personally.

When my springs were installed they did not remove the axle bolts, are you telling me I should still change them?

no, you were a smart cookie that didnt remove them by just disconnecting the sway bar.

Alf nailed it.

"H&R Sport Springs & Rear Sway Bar"

The problem is NOT VW. The problem is a bad suspension job.

no, thats the shortcut people should use as an alternative to taking off the axle. saves sooo much time.

make sure they replace the axle bolt if they do take off the axle. and to be careful with the HID levelers.

The bolts are said to stretch a couple thousands of an inch or so when you torque them down to their specific settings. Therefore new bolts are recommended in order to get this slight torque stretch out of the new bolts when you're torquing them down after taking the axle bolts out to put a new suspension mod on. TO me it's a no brainer, all bolts stretch the threads a little when tightening down. I haven't changed mine yet and have left the others on with plenty of loctite.

I went to have the dealer change my axle bolts over after they came in. But after an hour of them looking for the torque specifications on the bolt they said none were out from VW yet. And that all they could find was the MKIV's settings. So again I ask, who knows "FOR SURE" what the torque setting recommendation is that VW has said to use.

Then will you please answer my torque spec question. What is the "certain" torque specs for our MKV's axle bolts. The dealer I go to said that VWofA hasn't relaeased this into their software yet. All they could find was the MKIV's. Please do help. I want to change mine but no one can tell me what numbers to use. It's kind of scary knowing that I'm searching online for my answer.

P.S. Welcome back rica roel.

fuck man, ive posted this before in your threads.

since its a stretch bolt, torque down to 85lbs, then a full 180 degrees to finalize it.

I wish I had the answer for you. I will see what I can do, but there doesn't seem to be a manual available yet (print or otherwise). I find it hard to believe that a dealer can't get the torque figure, hell, call 1800drivevw and bitch to them, they might be able to help.:iono:

Hey Alf is that it for sure? Where did you get your info from? I'm not trying to be anal, it's just that I think I got something like two diferent answers in that thread. But none that told me exactly.

BigDyno, that's a great idea. I'll call them tomorrow AM and see if I can get an answer within my 20 minute commute to the dealer. I'm going in for the Air Bag fault. THey told me they will use butt connectors under my seat and switch out the connection for me. Perhaps I'll be able to take care of two things at once (air bag light/axle bolt swap out). Thanks again.
