This is a thread for anyone that spots a MK5. Please list where you saw them, what time you saw them and a description of the car (color, mods, driver). My old Eclipse forum had one of these and it was pretty cool spotting other members. So far, I havent spotted any other GTI's in my area, 626-909. Hope to see some of you guys in the future!

I have seen 3 in the USC Parking Structure D. A red one, a silver one, and another silver one that belongs to TurboDSG of this forum.

Oh, and I see this really nice BM with a lot of mods like color matched side-markers, blacked out emblems, debadged, eyelids, Neuspeed Sport springs, AWE Tuning Boost Gauge, tail light tint lenses...

Lol I was coming home from dinner with my dad and my gf and as I stopped at a stopsign I saw a UG MKV coming from the left. They slowed down even though they had a right of way and it ended up being a potential GTI owner on a test drive with a salesman. I gave them a peace sign and im sure the salesman and the test driver got a kick out of seeing another GTI on their test drive.

I was driving up in Fremont, CA. by automall parkway in a strip mall and this car honked his horn and as I look over its some guy driving a BMP VW GTI with his girlie, lowered and on some nice black wheels. Gave me the peace sign and I did the same. Good to see the VW love.

Okay I spotted a Black Magic GTI with 18" huffs on it on New Montgomery and Mission in San Francisco. The first time I actually stood close to the car. Most of the ones I've spotted were on the road or far away. Nice quiet idle, beautiful leather interior. Getting me more excited to go pick up mine.

Saw two yesterday.

1) Around 4:10pm CW MKV GTI on the 118 headed East. Brand new, no plates, bone stock. I got along side and gave him the devil-horns. He gave a nod as he exited.

2) Around 8pm on Victory near Fallbrook (sp?). MKV GTI, either BM or UG. Hard to tell as it was dark and I didn't get a real good look. He/she was making a turn and I was coming the other way.

I see more and more new GTI's on the road. When I first got the car back in March, I went for months without seeing any. I guess their catching on, which is good...in a bad way. :wink:

Ran into two GTI's today in San Francisco at Mission and New Montgomery. One white, one black. The Candy White had black huff's, cloth seats, and manual transmission...hmm anyone on here from the SF Bay Area and owns a Candy White, manual transmission with black coated 18" huffs? If so, absolutely gorgeous car! The Black Magic one was right on New Montgomery. It might have been in a small fender bender, because the driver side door had a big dent in it. Reguardless, they both were very stunning cars.

#1: Around 8AM? UG GTI with rims (didn't get a good look, since it was from afar) on the 60E freeway, and they exited off of Azusa.

#2: RS GTI parked in front of a McDonald's at Cabazon (Desert Hills Premium Outlets) :thumbsup:

#3: On the way back from Palm Springs, I believe it was on the 10W heading back from Cabazon... saw a UG GTI.

A few weeks ago on the way to work, spotted a United Grey GTI with Rieger body kit driving west on Devonshire at Tampa.

Today, spotted a Candy White GTI (Pkg 1 or 2) with Hufs turning left from Chatsworth onto Andasol right after I turned right onto Andasol from Chatsworth. Followed me into the alley behind my apartment building. Definitely has to be a neighbor. Spotted the car a few days ago parked the street over, on Louise. Though I distinctly remember seeing a Candy White GTI (Pkg 0) with 17s parked regularly around that same location.

Must have a few neighbors with MKVs.

seriously i love that shit out of all the gti's ive seen 1 gti has looked and given a head nod. i dont bother w/ jettas its usually girls or moms and a few older guys driving it, but they never show love! they like pretend you dont exist, i dont have a gti but i mean cmon and least thumbs up!

I disabled DRLs, enabled remote window opening/closing, enabled auto-unlock when key is removed, and coded for my amber signals.

I even changed the instrument country from US to UK to enable the parking light feature (one side lights up) but I ended up going back to the US since I would never use that feature :)

Today when I was picking up my younger brother, I saw a black GTI. It was at night and pretty dark. I went up and tapped the window because I wanted to say hi. She opened the door and I saw a 40 year old lady driving the GTI. I was thinking... "errrr" because I saw the gear lever was after market and it had its suspension lowered. Maybe it's her son's car or something haha.

Since I don't have insurance, I can't drive my blue GTI around though.

2) Best Buy, Victory & Owensmouth, around 5:30 PM. CW MKV GTI in the lot, stock, 17"s. Had some dry-erase writing on the windows. Like "Congrats so-and-so". I parked right next to it in my CW. When I came out, it was gone.

Two sightings today. Both were Candy White, Two-Door, Package 0 or 1, 17" GTIs.

One was at Best Buy/Toys R' Us in Porter Ranch (Northridge) about 2:00. Must belong to an employee of either store as I've seen it parked there very often.

The second one was on the 118 freeway going eastbound about 8:00. The GTI entered at Tampa, and as I saw, I sped up and paced the car. Was a woman driver. Didn't look very interested.
