Hope this helps all the DIYers out there, wanting to follow
VW standards. All oils on this list are 100% approved by VW, alot
of which are not available in the USA... but anyhoo..... good reference! :smoking:

What about Amsoil?
If its not on the list, its not approved by VW..
for one reason or another. There may be an updated
list of oils though....

Don't think using an alternative oil will affect your warranty as long
it is fully synthetic.

What about Amsoil?
Amsoils specs far exceed the VW/Audi recommended oils (BTW these companies pay into the system to gain acceptance). Even though Amsoil is not on the list they "can not" void your warranty according Maguson-Moss Act (no single company can force you to use a certain product). I have several clients that are under VW/Audi warranty and run the 5w40 under manufactures drain intervals without a problem!

Supposedly Royal Purple is not a true synthetic. Amsoil is and it was the very first to be developed and that's all they focus on and perfect!
Read me post above to gain a true understanding.

It most likely meets VWs standards, but VW doesn't recognize that it does thats all.

they have an online store at www.amsoil.com go to online store and select 'motor oils' then 'AFL Synthetic 5W-40 European Engine Oil'
excellent product, i used it in my other cars .... it is a group IV synthetic = full synthetic base, no mineral blend at all, closed molecule = does not mix with anything liquid or solid, so all these can be better filtered.
Castrol Syntec (on the VW approved list) is a group III = synthetic-based, meaning has synthetic AND mineral blend. AMSOIL is a notch up.

Not if you get German Castrol 0/30, which is also approved. It's the only one made in Germany and from a completely different base stock than US spec.
Motul and Mobil 1 full synthetic is all ill use. oh yea ray i still got your Motul in my garage.
