Does anybody have the golf ball shifter from vw drivergear? If so do you like the way it feels?

www.dynamicmotorworks.com has it for $149. I don't know much about it except it looks smooth.

I can't believe people actually like the looks of that thing. I'll leave that for the kids to play with. As far as ergonimocs go, I would assume that the golf ball shifter is not as comfortable to hold as the stock one. The stock one's designed to fit your hand as to where the golf ball one reminds me of shifting an old pick-up truck. Not to mention it looks like a Pep Boys mod. Sorry guys, I just don't get people considering "demodding" their cars. Because there's no way that thing has an advantage. It's just a cheesy gimic mod and a serious waste of money (period).

(Note to self) Hope I don't get harped on for this one.

It's actually a traditional piece from the originals. It has more weight to it and the shifts feel a lot smoother, and easier to "flick it" into gear. I want one....badly.

I really like the look of it, and i'm pretty sure its the way the 5 speed from the mk1 GTI's looked. Only thing is, its really expensive for a shift nob.

I prefer the look of the stock shifter a lot more above that of the golf ball shifter. I wouldn't even install that golf ball shifter in my GTI for all the money in the world.

Hopefully the Rabbit will come out with a rabbit shaped shifter that you rabbit owners can buy. Wouldn't that be awesome? Then maybe the Ford Mustang will come out with a horse shaped shifter that 5.0 fans can put in place of theirs too. That would be so cool. Even those wouldn't be as nice as a Dodge Neon that had a neon glowing CF ball to shift with.

Lets just hope this Golf ball trend thingy really takes off.:bellyroll:

Our stock shift knobs r pretty damn nice, I wouldnt change it

The factory one is ok... I don't like the fact that in the heat it gets hot as shit... the metal parts atleast.

I like the look and feel of the golf ball shifter. (friends car has it)

Yea it does get quite hot. What's the golf ball made of?

It's whatever plastic they use on the old ones and then metal where the boot connects but there's no metal ring on the top that heats up and makes a red ring in your hand on a hot summer day... haha

Not that it's the hottest place in the world here, but we see 100-105 in the summer from July-August

Just like the plaid interior, they're trying to bring back memories of the original. I'd love it, but I like the stock one too. Except for it burning the heeha out of my hand.

I'd like to see what one was like, but it's not high enough on my list to shell out well over $100 for at the moment.

You think that's bad, try having a 100% Aluminum B&M T-Handle shift knob like I do on my truck. It feels great when driving and resting the hand on the shifter, but on a hot sunny day... Look Out! One day I thought I was going to have a reverse branded B&M Logo on my hand. Being that it is aluminum, it does cool down quickly though, same for the GTI shifter.

Had a Titanium shifter on my civic...got cold as hell in the winter. Talk about quick shifts. Take too longer and your hand is frozen to the shifter. In the summer it got super hot and would do the same as the GTI shifter. I thought about putting a small sock on it.....anything to keep it out of the sun.

I like the golfball shifter...saw it at the dealer and had it out of the box. However, i would never spend the 170 that the dealer was asking for.

I like the look of the golf ball shifter. It's clearly meant to be a throwback to earlier models of the GTI. However, I wouldn't spend that much money, especially when the stock one is pretty nice.

The golf ball gearknob is a throw back to the Mk1 GTI i expect it will be on the 30th anny version myself as it was on the ED30 model VW were showing.
