I had three different girls tell me that my mk5 looks like a girls car!!! Can you believe that!? Has this happend to any of you guys? What do you think females generally thing about the GTI?? What should I have told those girls? :confused:

dont mean to offend but if youve got candy white or tornado red, your kinda asking for it. as much as i think all the colours are great, those 2 seem to be the girly looking ones to me.

but apart from that, girls always say everything is cute, even if you turned up in a bugatti veyron.

MKV is not a girls car by any means. it appeals to both i spose.

Well, first off, "No" this has not happened to me...yet. When I asked my wife, she thinks that those other girls don't know what a "girls car" even is if they seriously think the GTI is a "girls car". From what we've heard, a typical "girls car" is one that has rounded features and not many lines to it.....oh, and don't forget that it also has a large population of female owners. For example, she owns a new Beetle... a typical "girls car".

I think the girls were just teasing.flirting with you to strike up conversation... which apparently not many of the other posters to this thread seem to want from women :rolleyes: ... I would have found something to tease/flirt back at them with.... like how many GTI owners they knew that were women... or if they would care to ride along with you to conduct a social experiment and either prove or disprove their hypothesis.

Now, if they were serious, you could simply point them to Frappr.com (http://www.frappr.com/volkswagengolfmk5owners) and search for "golf mk5" and see for themselves. (494 men to 14 women....not so much a big "fem" ownership there). You could even do that during the "experiment" and then go somewhere for a celebration of your success.

...but that's just me... a guy that likes it when the ladies try to strike up conversation. Not that they could get anywhere (as I'm happily married), but the ride can still be fun. :wink:

So the car is Bi?....... anywho I had a girl go for a ride with me in my car. Just to let you know this girl is very into cars and has a 97 nissan 240 set up for drifting.... She said that my car seemed a little girly being a front wheel driver that can't drift, well with one fast corner and a pull of the e-brake with the esp off showed her differently... Almost had her there in the back seat after that one... If you know what I mean

I hate how if you try and set the seats in the foward position (the one to let people out), they dont lock there, they just slide back unless you hold them. Really makes things difficult in the back soemtimes!

All the time. When I got it my girlfriend told me it looked like a girl car. Everytime we go out she makes fun it sayin its a girl car and sayin it looks like a focus hatch / civic hatch / mazda hatch. Then finally last night she told me that she was just sayin it cause when sure first saw it was different from other cars on the road, she said last night it grew on her and she really thinks its a "cool boy car" now.

All the girls at work tell me Its a girl car too but they all said its cool and really nice.

I've had a girl tell me its cute, I didn't really care, then after the ride she said the "vroom" noise/speed was awesome and turned her on. Most girls say its nice or sporty.

I was talking to one lady who didn't know what it was and thought it was a golf, I told her it was a GTI, and she was like "whats that?" I said its basically a sport golf, and she was like "oh really?" and was totally into it, especially when I told her it was 200 hp, 6spd (girls know that real men drive manuals).

So yeah uh long story short, chicks dig it.:thumbsup:

When my GF first saw it she thought it was a cute car. But the thing that really tripps people out is the inside. Like aww how cute... then they get inside and see the leather interior (not so cute anymore) the 6 spd (kinda manly)then the red/blue lights, and of course at 130 mph and hugs the road like it was glued. Suddenly becomes less cute. Kinda cute how you judged it from one glimpse from the outside but now you're jockin.

In all seriousness, the GTI is not the most masculine car on the roads. That being said, the Jetta is the quintessential car for college girls and receptionists. Maybe she mistook your car for that.

Funny. I used to own a Ford Probe GT, and traded in a Mazda3 (hatch) for my GTI. Damn I must be gay and not even know it.

Anyway, if they want to say my car is a chick car, then whatever. I'm sure that opinion will change once they go for a ride in it.

personally, i think car colors matter more if they're girly or not. my buddy drives a mkIV turbo bug, black on black rims with a stage 3 kit. NOT a girly car (i still wouldnt drive it), but it definitely can be in most instances. A few girls have bought GTIs here. most of them are white or red... the guys buy black or ug. silver is kinda neutral i guess.

I asked her if she wanted to go for a ride, she said yes. 5 minutes later I had her screaming when we entered the autobahn sideways and hit 140 mph within the next off ramp. I asked her if it was still girly ad she just looked at me and said she was sorry and asked me to slow down :happyanim:.... Uhm, most the girls I know think it is economical and environmentally friendly. My girl thinks it's the only choice that makes since. To her, not only is it economical and environmental, but it's sporty, looks and plays the part, and it's utilitarian.

I can take the kayak to the river, round the track a few times, haul an engine lift, and get great gas mileage - it's the intelligent choice, and some woman find THAT hot. :cool:

My GF said the GTI I test drove looked like a jellybean. The GTI's styling is not aggressive, but I like the clean look. I like my ms3's looks a little better b/c it's not as subdued and bland. I also think he GTI is more of a girl car than it's competitors simply because it comes in a pseudo automatic transmission. I see a lot of girls driving GTI's.
