View Full Version : My car mis firing says vw service

The EPS light came on out of nowhere yest. Brought into service this am and they said it was mis firing and running lean. but the car was running fine. but the tech has to drive it with the computer hooked up.

They will surely reflash my ecu to stock. Now i have to go back to where i got my revo and get it reflashed. what a pain.

What actually caused the problem? Did they give you any crap about your chip?

not yet. when i go to pick her up I will ask for the fault codes they got.

Misfire recognized

Misfire recognized

08342 P2096 002
Bank 1 Oxygen sensor correction behind cat
Lean control mixture exceeded

Service Summary: 10647 Lean Fault, Perform guided fault finding. Check ignition system. all okay. check fuel trim, slightly out of range. check for intake system leaks. replaced crankcase vent valve. recheck fuel trim. now within spec. vendor kys.

Seems ok now but i have to get on it to see if they deleted my revo program.

Very few repairs require an update that wipes out software, currently only the tumbleflap update should do this.

The EPS light came on again today. Hm. bringing her back in tomorrow. Hope this isnt something major.

Well they wanted me to leave the car on saturday until monday so the tech could call vw hq. i said i would bring it back monday and the light went away on its own.

This seems emissions related. If i just upgrade to TBE and get revoe stage 2 will the software upgrade eliminate any of these codes causing the epc light?

The latest. They are replacing the Oxygen sensor. I think they are just fishing for something. This is my 2nd time in for the same problem. So if this happens 1 more time do they owe me a brand new car?

tell them to check the coil packs, move coil pack 3 to another cylinder and see if the missfire follows.
