I'm looking to out the audio equipment from my previous can into the GTI but i wanted to retain the stock headunit. I have a JL 10w7, 1 pair of JL XR650csi and 1 pair of JL xr650cxi, and for amps i have 1 polk 500/1 and a polk 400/4. I have a good friend that works at tweeter, and he suggested using the cleansweep, but now i have a few problems that im hoping you guys can help me out with. the first problem is that the cleansweep has a remote control volume knob which i dont wanna use cause i still wanna be able to use the wheel volume. He said i would have to keep set the stereo volume and then use the remote volume instead. My question is, is there a thing like the cleansweep were i won't have to use a remote volume control? My second questionis are the stock speakers crossed over in the amp within the stock headunit, even if there is a amp within the stock headunit. any info would be awesome....thanks, Dave

FOsgate makes a unit like the Cleansweep. It's called the 3Sixty. Don't quote me but from what I hear you don't ahve to use that annoying volume control knob. It does have one that is used for selecting sources, but I think you can use the stock volume control. The stock speakers should be designated into 4 channels. The front door speakers will be two, and the rear 4 speakers will be the other two. The 4 channel amp should work fine. The stock head unit's amp is severly under powered.
P.S. The 3Sixty is cheaper than the Cleansweep.

thanks for the info bro...i really appreciate it...also, the kid was talking about using another piece to cancel out the crossover to the amp within the stock headunit. have you heard of anything like this?, and if so do you think i would have to use it?

The Rockford 3Sixty still has a separate volume control knob which is also used to select the source. Chances are you may have to still use the separate knob if your headunit adjusts its EQ settings according to the volume level. Theres been a previous thread regarding this before:

why dont you just do it the other way around? set the volume on the cleansweep and adjust your head unit volume. audiocontrol offers a similar option as well. Its call the LC6.

because the EQ changes when u use the standard volume control hence all the adjustments u made on the Cleansweep/3Sixty will be messed up. The idea is to keep the EQ at a certain setting hence leaving it at a certain volume level on the standard headunit and use the volume control of the cleansweep/3sixty which doesnt mess up the EQ levels.

one more question guys, and that is with the cleansweep do i need to use the JL signal summer to get rid on the crossover of the stock speakers. The kid at Tweeter said i might but he wont know until hes putting the stuff in the car. I'm not sure what it exatly does so dont quote me, but im hoping i dont cause JL isnt going to release this until the beginning of august. thanks for the help.

If your signal from the factory amp is crossoed over, the JL cleansweep won't work unless you buy their summing device to go with it.
3Sixty will work w/o any additional hardware AND it will give you the choice if you want to keep the factory crossovers or sum signals to give you a full range response.

I have the same speakers and sub in my car, and it sound fucking beautiful. The only difference between you and I is that I got rid of the stock head unit, and got an avic z1, and i have a 500/5 and a 500/1. Also wouldnt it be cheaper to get a new headunit, I know i was looking into the cleansweep myself, but those suckers were like 800 dollars???? They do have a bypass that lets you use the steering wheel controls with aftermarket headunits, I have it for mine at least.:iono: :drinking: :drinking: :drinking: :headbang:

The difference between the 3Sixty.1 and .2 would be the added features of time alignment and surround sound or something along those lines I believe. As for which one would work, Id say both would work fine either way depending on your budget and/or the features you are after.

Both units use 153 bands of EQ to flatten, or undo your factory EQ. Both units will come channels (if necessary) to turn crossed-over channels into full range channels. The 3Sixty.1 gives you access (after OEM) to adjust 15 wide-Q filters to tune the system (flat doesn't always sound good).
The 3Sixty.2 gives you access to all 153 bands of EQ, Crossovers, time delay and a 31-band EQ for your aux input...just to name a few.

You can use the cleansweep in the GTI just use it before the passive crossovers. Only time it could be a problem is if you have the soundpack option with the seperate amp.
