Yeah seriously.. I know exactly what "roads your talking about. If your going to go 160mph.. then I dont expect you to return and post on this forum. THoese roads.. are all fucked up. Since ur in texas, I take it ur going over the border through Lorado mexico? right? if so... take 1 car, I guarantee something will happen if theres more than one gti.. it WILL get vandalised. Find something more fun to do than speed in mexico.. once ur locked up.. ur out of USA jurisdiction. and cops out there DO NOT like american citizens.. They have every right to impound your car.. and will do so if they dont like you... Its happened many times to people i know. Bribes work wonde3rs in mexico.. and the mexican police know this.. so they will pull you over for anything for a bribe.. because they know you will give it to them.. or your walking home.

Yeah the last thing I want to do is take my GTI into Mexico so some bugger can ram me with his taxi.

And can you imagine what it will feel like when you hit a pothole at 160mph? Ouch. :frown:

160 does sound like fun though, strangely.

With all the respect and with no intention to insult you or anyone else let me tell you something about Mexico.

I was born in Ohio so i'm a US citizen and i have lived in Mexico for a long time now and let me tell you that if i had the chance to go back to the US i would say no, life here in Mexico is great! even with all the issues everybody knows (security, pollution, roads, etc)

The highways you have to pay for they are all in a very good shape and you can speed very nicely, I have a 2007 tornado red GTI and i went 250 km/h (156.25 miles/h) from Mexico City to Cuernavaca.

By all this words what i want to say is that Mexico is not what all of the US people think, to say something about Mexico you should live and work here.
Accidents happen everywhere not just in Mexico.

Hey thats awesome! My family is from cuernavaca too! Ive taken that road many of times too from Mexico city to Cuernavaca. The highways you have to pay to drive on are in very good condition, when I was little we were one of the first people to drive on the new highways, they gave us hats and stuff, it was pretty cool, it was opening day.

Yes that's a nice one also! in fact that one is a 500km (give or take) distance and usually you take like 2:40 to 3:30 hours to go ftom one place to the other deppending on your speed (and balls!!  )

I've paid the fees to drive the private highways outside Guadelajara, and roads were very nice! Too bad I was driving a Bora instead of my GTI. I hear that the fees actually help cover your insurance....so if you have an accident on these private highways, you're covered / protected by them. Anyone know if that's true?

ive never lived or worked in mexico, but i have been there more than a few times. and unlike in the usa, mexico varies a lot depending on where you are in the country, mexico city is very nice, modern, and clean. i went for my uncles wedding (he works in mexico for abercrombie and fitch and met a woman out there)

my travels have taken me to some very backwards and uncivilized parts of mexico, especially the areas around tijuana.

not sure about the conditions of the roads though, when i was in playa del carmen they were pretty terrible, not to mention completely no traffic laws or enforcement.

I often drive to Cd Guzman wich is near Guadalajara also at 250 km/h (156.25 miles/h)... mmm but always looking at the blacks Chargers R/T (Cops of Highways)

The tickets were $50 USD each but if you pay them in the first 15 days you get a 50% discount!! and you know what........i paid them with pleasure!

I dont know in the US but here the ticket is for speeding and they dont charge you depending on the speed, its the same if you go 120km/h or 250 km/h

That is correct, he owns in Mexico the biggest Cel Phone network (Telcel), Telmex (house phones), Sanborns (a chain of restaurants with all kind of presents), and the list continues, he is also a big actionist for apple computers and he was the owner of COMP USA in the states

Lol screw mexican stereotypes, my family down there has ferraris, maseratis, and even a phantom. Their kids go crazy on modding cars, one of them has 500 hp plus on his srt 4 neon (which is his weekend car, his daily driver is a bulletproof H2) and the other one has a evo 9 MR with 450 hp. He just bought a gti a week ago and is about to send me cash to order parts.

BTW mexican roads are not bad at all, thats one dumbass stereotype. Anybody that has actually been on the "autopistas" know exactly what good condition they are in. Also i really doubt you have to waist 200$ to go on them.

Never been to Mexico...But being that i live in Thailand (where people think is third world country but actually not...) Its road is MUCH better then the US. Both public and privite. we have a privite elevated expressway where it ban trucks. So...you are left with 4~5lane each side straight from Bangkok to Chunburi (Detriot of the East) and the beach. The best part of this elevated highway is that the people that drive on them know that there are always crazy people in the fast lane so its always clear, everyone doing less the 100mph basiclly stay of the right lane (we drive on the correct side).

Hey Amigos! I'm from Los Angeles, so that makes me an honorary Mexican citizen right? <sorry, BAD humor!>

Anyway, would you guys know if any of those Mexican uber-highways would happen to be in Baja California? Sounds like it would be worth the drive down. Certainly better than going to Senior Frogs! (FWIW, I've met some of the NICEST people down in Mexico).

they do have some nice as roads down there. i used to go ALL the time on surfing trips when I lived in san diego. My uncle used to race in the baja 500 and 1000, so we used to go down there and stay with the crew and sometimes i would go on chases with my other uncle, it was sick(i know its offroading). anyways, the roads down there were pretty damn nice and the other actual highways are really fucking nice depending on where you go.

and the america is the greatest country comment, were all american from canada to the bottom of south america. so being an immigrant is not "un american" its the U.S. that tries to imprint in your head that the U.S is the only "american" country. the true america/s has been around WAY longer then the U.S.
