I want to rally my R32. I am in Michigan and can not find any information about rally racing in my area. I looked on the SCCA site but could not find the exact class the car would be in.

autocross is a great way to get "in touch" with your car and learn how it handles in extreme conditions. It has helped me on the road tremendously and it is just tons of fun. I'd recommend it to anyone that's not afraid to push the limits of their car and driving skill.

rally that thing if you want... dont let these poor boys tell you what to do with your investment. As long as you dont get in a stupid class with Rally racing you can run your car and only risk minor scratches and paint chips. Just dont push yourself too far to fast or you might wind up finding out if a spruce is strong than a radiator.

RALLYCROSS FTW!!

but seriously, i wanna try auto-x one day... i'm not sure if i'm un-afraid of pushing the limits of my car, but i wanna be in an environment where it's safe to do so.

kryptonkid07 you should go check out a autox in your area.. see what its all about and then make a decision.. once you get your first timid run around the track youll be hooked

i did one in an RX8 and it was the most fun ive had in a car yet.. way better adrenaline rush than racing.. i cant wait til my car is set up for it

I mean RALLY> its just a car guys. I want to see just how far the R32 will go and how well it will hang. I pushed it hard the day we picked it up in freezing rain on dirt country roads and it stuck like glue.

I have almost 5k miles as of now. I want to find something in michigan.

you do realize you need fully prepped car to go rally racing
you can't go in a street car

Yeah reading over the rule book for Rally American you pretty much have to gut your car, build a cage, do away with electric door locks, pin your hood close, make the hood release inoperable, install mudflaps, install fixed back seating.... the list goes on. You need more than just AWD to go rallying.

if you have the bank roll to throw away your brand new $32k car
i say go for it

It has been said that "you shouldn't race anything that you wouldn't be willing to push off a cliff" in regards to racing on a track, and of course this is a bit of a hyperbole for most types of racing- but rally is different. That saying is completely true when you start talking about rally.

it is your car. do it. its not like we drive a ferrari.

Well if they want roll cages ect maybe I can find some other crazy people who are just as nuts as I am. And we can throw the rule book on the back end as mud flaps.

I still want to do it

I doubt it... If im gonna rally I better be in it to win something. I am trying to pick up an UrQuattro to play with in some rallycrosses. I say if you want to rally try some rallycrossing first.

Cause no rally association is gonna let you start racing in a class that your R32 will fit in. No novice racer will be allowed in a 4wd or awd car till they have competed in that sanctioning bodies set amount of events. Its to keep all your boy racers with evos from getting out there and killing themselves. Just an example not saying all evo owners are boyracers.

Dan GSR

you think they mandate cages for no reason, its so u dont kill yourself
if your not ready to cage a car, your not really ready to commit yourself

no cage no sanctions I just want to tear it up some where with this thing.

If you want to play go to a rallycross... Im sure you will find it more than difficult enough to keep it between the cones. Try it out then if your still interested work your way into the sport slowly.

No sanctions no cage = sudden death
