Hey guys, just got my GTI a few days ago and I'm enjoying every bits of it, I'm not used to the hp and torque yet but man it feels great to have the power I need.

Yesterday I discovered that my windows occasionally move in reverse, when I want to pull the window down more when it's half opened, it goes up! when I want it to go up, it goes down, but sometimes it doesn't happen, so I do not know what to tell the dealer, and I can't find my aux input! My friends 07 GTI has it, but I can't locate it in the passenger's side glove box...sigh..

Anyway, any input is appreciated.
Thanks guys

go to your dealer about the window

of course, but if it's something minor to fix by myself then I'd prefer doing it myself, this way I can know the car better. Thanks :)

Probably needs to be programmed or something.

i haven't had this problem but i've read about it. i think it's a computer problem, just bring it to the dealer. we have warranty's for a reason. use it while it lasts!

eh, save the trouble and just bring it to the dealership. You will have plenty other chances to get to know your car. but thats just my opinion.

Not sure about the Aux... You checked the glove box? It is kind of hidden on the right side.

While you are at the dealer for the window, have them show you the aux if you cant find it, or get it to work. The salesman SHOULD HAVE showed you the how and where on stuff like that, but not many cover everything.

Early 07's don't have the AUX input. Later ones do. If you have it, it's on the right of your glove box. If you don't, I think it's a light instead.

Since you just picked up the car, why not wait a couple weeks and keep a list in the glove box of all the little things for the dealer to look at.

By that time, the window will probably have reprogrammed itself...

if i recall.....a window winding up instead of down is a safety feature to stop anyone trapping anything in the window (arms legs lol)

if there is anything that has dropped into the window seal then this can make the window think there is an object in the window....

if you follow.....just an idea to help you problem solve :D

parksey is talking about the pinch control safety feature. if your arm or something gets jammed between the window it'll automatically open again.

^^ spot on..... i dont know if its the problem just thought i would mention it to help you on your way to finding the error...... (loads of people will reply that they got there arm stuck next lol)

thanks guys! but nah.. i doubt its the safety thing that you mentioned cause when i open/close windows there were never objects in the way.

btw my delivery date of the car is march 23rd 2006...so i guess i dont get aux...fudge!!

its not so much an object but bits of brick and dust that could have fallen inside the window seal....but as you say if its new i doubt it will be that

well it's not really new, new to me, but it's a used car, anyway, i hope everything is workign fine now, rattle is gone and i got my windows reprogrammed so I don't expect things to go wrong anytime soon, thanks for all input guys!

unhook your battery for 30 mins plug it back in then start the car roll your windows completely down then completly back up. That resets them to their correct open and close position. For any one that has done engine mods to their car after unhooking the battery and resetting the ecu the automatic up/down function of the windows will not work unless you do this. maybe it's just mine but I know this works for me.

i have an early 07 (06/06 build date, took delivery in July 06), and it has an aux port.

what?? i was at the dealer to have the stuff fixed and i asked a salesperson to show me where the aux is and apparently it's a white plated thing with a aux hole, and i can't locate it in my gti and apparently it's just a light...dammit!

if you're looking for hp then get the ms3, if you want an overall awesome car - GTI FTW
