ok so i want to get the alpine cda-9857 and i was wondering do i have to get the double-din adapter so it will fit??

you buy an dash install kit. it has a single din in it to add a normal size deck.

If you want a single din, go to VW and buy this VW Part number: 1K0 857 058 3X1. They'll probably have a double din as well, I just don't have the part number to it.

If you look aftermarket double din dash kits. Get yourself the American International (AI) VW-K1017. It's the best fitting one for our cars.

Scosche has a small gap and Metra's are cheap and gapped as well.
