Some swear by one, others say it's crap. Is there any generally accepted "great" software upgrade company? It would be great to see bone stock dyno overlays of all three companies. A diehard VW friend of mine swears by GIAC. APR's numbers seem to be great. I'm sure it's no different than when I had my Z28. These cars seem to draw a more educated mature crowd who are very educated on what really works. Any opinions welcome.

First off, there's tons of posts on this topic so I'll make this short and sweet.

ALL ARE GOOD!

choose the one that has a dealer closest to your location. Meaning when updates, new software, fixes etc... come out, it's not a pain in the ass to get them.

I had APR on my mk4 - awesome, no complaints.
I no run with REVO - awesome, no complaints so far.

If I had to choose again,.....i'd choose one of these two.

Thanks, that's what I'm wondering, is actual experiences. I'm sure there are topics on these, but it has been a while and this stuff is what, 2 months old? So I thought there might be some more input on this.

Yea like HotLanta MKfizzle said, I'm getting REVO because my local shop deals with them a lot...

I was initially going to go with APR tho.

There aren't any revo dealers anywhere near me, so should I order the APR and install it myself?

theyre all aobut the same, i like revo because it allows me to tweak with my settings depending on weather conditions, etc.

I like the fact that with Revo you can finetune your vehicle, so which means when you get other performance mods, you can play with your software, which in my case was not necessary, because the GTI is my daily driver, i am not going crazy on this car. APR gives everything that a VW GTI should have come with.

I would probably go with Revo for his excellent performances and also because APR doesn't have dealers here in Europe.

My local dealer is a GIAC dealer. He also has a dyno and I've heard good things about him. I like the way the APR offers stock vs 93 tune, big plus in my book.

GIAC is working on a switch feature like the one found on the APR "chip".

Nope, you can't just reflash it yourself. It's not an actual part you buy. Or at least the APR one isn't.

Also, it not only depends on location of dealer, but what do you want out of it. Are there going to be future mods? Are you done after chipping it? Do you want to be able to switch back and forth between your stock mode and flashed program and how do you want to do it(that was my APR selling point)? I like the way there's is set up and I've heard only good things about them in the past. I love my APR. But I'm sure everyone likes there chip.

I have GIAC and absolutely love it.

In my opinion, just go with whatever is cheapest and most easily available for you!!!!!!!!!!! They are all pretty much equal!!!

This is the best thing about APR, and its coming a Valet program, and also they are working on the lunch control system for the dsgĦĦĦĦĦĦ

Don't want to be picky but it's launch control not lunch control.

I have heard that that you can buy the flash loader for both GIAC and Revo, but one is not available for APR. I like the fact that I can remove and then reflash my system at will with REVO and GIAC. The flash loader is a benefit for me.

Once APR hit's the wall as far as sales goes, they'll start circulating the loader to the public. They want to get as much profit as they can before they allow there software/loader to hit the streets, because once it does the value of there re-flash plummits.

PS: as far as launch control for you DSG'ers, I'd make sure that feature is also selectable for on/off adjustement before you add it, so you can off it for dealership visits.

Well, I found a local guy who travels around and does Revo flashes. He happens to have the best price as well.

Sounds absolutley delicious!

Anyway, I have APR, my decision was partially based on price ( I got a rockin deal, $599 for the 91 octane flash, free second program, and an adjustable Forge DV spacer for $50) also because I liked the guys who were doing it (Eurocode Tuning) based in Torrence CA.

From what I gather during research, APR is the smoothest, GIAC may push it a bit more for a few more ponies, but not enough too make any if at all, real world difference. REVO I'm not to sure about, I had the trial flash on my 1.8T, it didnt seem too hot, some of the dealers in my area have been known to have some shady practices.

Ohh, and I am 100% happy with my decision.

Yeah, just don't get the hammer version.... it comes on real hard and fast. Go with the medium version which has the best all around drivablity.

when is this launch control coming in? from APR, or is it just a speculation?
