Sounds like you are looking at the wrong function. What you mentioned was for door locks. You are looking for the "ATA Confirm," which is also under "Convenience" on your MFA.

i seriously wish the people at the dealerships would take some "training courses" so that they know what the hell they're talking about

just curious...why would you want to disable the horn for locking the car? i think of it as my peace of mind when locking my doors, so i can just walk away, hear the horn...and know my doors are locked. my present car does not sound the horn for locking or unlocking, and it drives me nuts...

i get home quite late sometimes and its very annoying to have my horn honk in a very peaceful neighborhood - especially if im trying to not wake "someone" up. car parks very close to bedroom window

And cuz I hate it when ppl use the horn in parking lots.

I feel you, mine doesn't make any honk when locking/unlocking the car either. Drives me mad the way i always have to go and double/triple check. I'm actually bringing the car in to have the honk turned on tomorrow. Hope it goes okay.

unless you dont have the same display setup.. :iono:

Just thought you guys might want to know that this option ATA, does not simply just disable the horn... ATA stands for anti theft alarm, so when u select the off option, you are not just simply disabling your horn, but you are also disabling the alarm of the car. For example, if someone breaks into your car by opening the doors or the hatch, the alarm will sound. With the ATA in OFF, the alarm will not engage and the theft can just peacefully go into your can and do what ever he/she wants :)

I cant believe how many lazy people there are out there. The very first thing i did when i bought my car is read the owners manual from cover to cover. All that stuff is in there. SPend some time with your car and your manual instead of your computer. You might be amazed at what you can find out about your car.!!!!

If I walk away from my car and don't hit the lock button, in about a minute it locks it's self, sounding the horn to let me know. I think it's kind of cool, as I am constantly asking myself if I locked the car and usually, if I have forgoten, just as I do that it beeps at me.

I can't stand hearing horns honking as I walk through a parking lot. People think they're special and do it a mile away. I currently have a clifford security system and have to hold an extra button down to not get the chirping upon locking/unlocking. I've been doing that for almost 6 years because I can't stand the sound. I can tell it's locked by the light flashes and I can hear the locks.

You can change this by VAG coding.

Seems I don't have ATA system... my GTI doesn't honk from the day 1.

If you hold down the Trunk Button till the light flashes i believe it turns off the honking / turns on. Try that

The dealership probably assumed that people know how to read the manual and since the step-by-step didn't show them, then something must be wrong with the car... neeeeeever the customer.

In troubleshooting problems with some people, it can be easier to just show them rather than give them the steps or tell them where to find it in the manual.

....then again, if they can get face-time and $$$ for showing some people how to do things on their car that they could have learned on their own, more power to 'em.

Under The 'Convenience' menu... go to ATA.. turn off...
My understanding is that 'ATA confirm' OFF does not
turn the whole anti theft alarm off.
You are basically disabling the ATA confirmation horn.

I don't understand what the talk about VAGCOM is about ??
