I am picking my new GTI from New Orleans tomorrow. The dealership in nola was able to find the exact GTI I was interested in. They traded it from a dealership in jackson, MS. I haven't seen many other GTI's or Rabbits around baton rouge but I'm on the look out for them. I'll be the one with a stock 2008 Tornado Red 4dr. GTI for now.

Kenner, La. Here. Just picked up my GTI MKV from B.R. dealer on thurs. They gave me a killer deal on a White 07 auto. I paid 22,000.00. The Metairie/Maandeville dealers would not come more than 500 off of the sticker. They were pushey and would not give me the hard numbers. they just kept giving me the monthly payment. So I called The B.R. store and they gave me much better service and closed the deal over the phone.


Anyway I am interested in a meet. Lakefront would be cool and I know a few other VW guys/gals that would be down.

Street Styles on the wank. Don't get me wrong, its a great shop with great workers. They have done great jobs on my previous car tint, my soundsystem on my old matrix, and my fathers tint on his audi allroad but for some reason they completely messed up my GTI. Little tiny and larger dots (5 to 15 dots each window) are on every window. The shop said it was because of the fabric running at the top of the window and that i should just work it with my fingernails. I would believe him if other people on this forum had similar problems but they don't. It's a bummer because other than those dots its a great looking tint but I notice it every time i walk towards the car. :mad0259:

Lafayette here. I was looking at the one they had at Moss Motors used cars, but it was a stick and I was lookin for the DSG.
The one there really made me reconsider white tho. Damn thing popped out at you when you were on Johnston.

Honestly, I've only seen 3 GTIs in Lafayette. The white one that got sold from Moss MOtors, I've seen 3 times already. I've seen a black one, and a Silver I believe. THat's it.
Im always down to hit up something in Red Stick or whatever.
I've actually gotta go to Baton Rouge tomorrow to get mine detailed and to get an inspection sticker.
When I picked mine up Saturday their detail crew and all that wasn't there to clean my car up.

The white one you see is not the one from Moss. I was going to purchase the one from Moss when it was already bought by a person in Texas. The white one was around waaay before that one. yeah the Vag-com is definately something I need to look into. I've briefly read about it but haven't really gone in depth about it.

Just texted him. I don't think it would be a problem. Just you would have to drive down to Lafayette. Don't think that would be much of a problem.

Just got with my buddy. He has the one from ebay. Supposedly only able to do certain things. Very limited. Not sure what it can or cannot be done. Might wanna check on ebay. Otherwise, it shouldn't be a problem to use it.

If anyone wants to wait. I'll be getting it first thing when I purchase the car. Just would have to meet me in Lafayette to get it done. Hopefully, it'll be before summer school. Which would be in a week and a half.

I live in metairie around power and i work in BR off of Corporate

if you see a BMP with the painted carbon fiber hood and grill that have recently been cracked by some lady in a SuV that would be mine.

im sending it to the shop in a few weeks going to have to replace all the carbon fiber. im thinking of repainting the whole car with some flat black accents.

They haven't started building the VW dealership in Lafayette yet, but it's in the works. It should be done by the end of the year. Which'll be good because by then I'll prolly be hitting my 10-15K mark.
The way it is now, I have to get a half day at work just to get anything done for my car because I gotta drive to Red Stick for it.
I'll be changing my oil myself, but the first couple I'd rather do it at the dealerships so I dont get dicked with warranty problems later on.

Yes i have competed a few times took 1st place in spl and 2nd place for sq and best in show for crutchfield it was a Mecca show.

This is the closest place that i found on the APR website that does chip burns. Just wondering if anyone has experience with them.
Main thing Im wondering is if they charge to do reburns if the dealership flashes me back to stock. I'll be calling them later on in the week. Just figured I'd ask here first just to see if anyone can give me info

Stopped by Autobahn South...it's actually a VW shop run out of Wedge Kyes. Spoke with the owner of AS and he seems like he really knows his stuff in regards to VW/Audi. I'm going to get him to install my DV later this week. Stop by and talk to him, he's a really nice guy.

Got my DV installed on Sunday, and couldn't be more impressed. Their tech (Brad) really, really knows his shit. The DV install is super fucking clean...I'm talking zip ties every 3 inches just about, hose clamps instead of zip ties on hose junctions, etc. He even ran the vacuum tube under the intake manifold so that you can't see it.

I've emailed him back and forth. There really is absolutely ZERO VW activity with ppl who are hyped up about it. There is a "Cajun VW" club, but it's full of old ppl who never take their cars out. For their monthly meets, 90% of them don't even bring their VWs.

1)Is there a dealer near lafayette for maintenance?

2)Are there any laws for smog checks and if so, do you need to be stock?

3)Are there any laws about weapons? Guns and knives...is it an open state like texas or a nazi state like california?

Awesome! how about the smog laws. I presume none. I read somewhere they have some but it deals with mechanical parts and not so much emmissions.

There aint shit here for smog laws. My last S10 and blazer had Edlebrock headers into a y-pipe, into a flowmaster 40 series where the cat was and then dumped.
I took the cat off of both vehicles. You can pass inspection at most smaller places easy. If you're illegal with the tint, a couple of places in town would do it if you'd tip the guy. I've done it a bunch of times.

As for a dealer, they are supposed to be putting one on Johnston St. Not far from the mall. It's around all of the other dealerships in the area as you make your way towards Maurice. I have to get mine serviced in Baton Rouge, an hour east. The ppl there told me they are $1 million over budget for the Lafayette one, so as soon as that gets solved they can start building. It's way behind. They were supposed to be done by christmas of last year. BUt yes, they are building one. It may be there by late summer.

I had 1% tint on my blazer for 4 years and never got pulled over once because of it. My S10 before that was the same. The only time I got pulled over for tint was when I was passing thru Zachary (North Baton Rouge).

Inspection-wise, just don't go to a reputable place. I know that sounds weird, but if you think you're illegal and you go to a midas, or a dealership, They're gonna go by the book. The smaller places like the lil oil change shops don't really give a damn at all. The best place to get passed with no questions is this little oil change shop on the corner of Pinhook and University in Lafayette. Out of town might be the same.

Yeah i'm here. I just couldnt get on the internet because we aren't getting it at our place until next month. I can only use it at the airport but i have been rather busy lol. Im about to go find this guy Jon to check out his old school VW bus. I met his wife at the post office a couple of months ago. SHe had an 08 GTI and said her husband was a big VW guy. Ive been emailing him back and forth a bit but haven't met him yet. She was the first person that's ever come out and said anything to me about local VW ppl and stuff.
