Welcome beneintray!
I think Maund charged me $79 the first time I went to them for an oil change (freakin' $5 of that was washer fluid. WTF?). Hewlett has service coupons on their web site (http://www.hewlettvw.com/?http://assets.cobaltnitra.com/teams/repository/export/898/920e8a7c910048fed10145edef087/898920e8a7c910048fed10145edef087.pdf) (just expired at the end of June). I got Maund to honor them the last time I got service, out of convenience for me. I've used both. Still haven't decided who I'll stick with. Maund would be more convenient for me, if they can keep from repeatedly pissing me off.
Keep posting your experiences here.

i will try Maund next time.
The thing Hewlett freaks me out was they needed overnight to do oil change.
I waited there for 2 hours. After 2 hours, i tried to find out what is going on. Service consultant told me there are 16 cars ahead of me. He did not mention that at first.
I made an appointment a week ago. What is the point of making an appointment if i have to leave the car overnight at dealer just because of oil change?
They don't even offered me shuttle, because my home is far.
Service consultant name was Brett.
Don't go there.

Wow. Looks like we can't win here in the Austin area. Maund has sucked so bad that I'm willing to drive an extra 17 miles to Hewlett for better service. Problem is that they too need a rectalcraniectomy.

Hi, guys.
I was busy getting around in Austin.
Do you guys remember I wrote about Hewlett sucks at service?
I got a PM from service consultant, Brett yesterday.
And he is threatening me now.
He said I did not say true. All I said was complaining about their service;
It took long time, and it was expensive than others.
I cannot believe he actually did it.
I think I need to call VWoA.
Don't go to Hewlett!! specially Brett!!!
brett
07-30-2008, 01:25 PM
Threating ? Really?
Here is the two PM's I sent to you
Hello
Im not trying to start a war, but I dont appreicate you badmouthing me on the internet. If I remember correctly you had several issues with your car besides changing the oil. I feel your comments are out of line and untrue.
Brett
and
Yes, we did other things besides an oil change, but you didnt mention that in your post, about your car having improperly installed aftermarket items causing your check engine light. Why would you go online and insult me with out telling the entire story.
and here is what I got from you.
"Go out and ask anyone who got GTI. aftermarket intake cause flap motor to stuck? where did you get that idea?
Do you have any ideas how it works?
Improperly installed? Have you ever looked at how it installed?
Go to your mechanic, and ask technical bulletin #01-08-08. I got 2 CEL; one was "intake manifold runner stuck" (code P2004), and other one was "sensor circuit low voltage" (code P0624). It is due to ECU software. You supposed to reflash my ECU,
not bullshitting about aftermarket parts.
Check my car and say " Since you got an aftermarket parts, we cannot do the service for you" it does not take more than a day!!
You said you did something for me, and what was it? besides saying aftermarket parts bullshit?
Now, fix my car, perform as TB, then I will say you are not gay.
Choose your words wisely. "
and you also sent this one...
"I don't care if you want the war with me.
But you better remember your position.
I am your customer, and you are VW service consultant.
You should not PMed me at first.
You will regret it. You chose wrong person to mess up with."
I tried to resolve the issue in a PM insted of on a public forum, I guess we dont see eye to eye on this, but In my defense Im not dishonest and Im not threating you. So good bye and good luck with the internet tough guy routine..
beneintray
07-30-2008, 02:52 PM
Wow,
Brett, you are REALLY service consultant.
I left a feedback about your service, which I was not satisfied with.
I think there are several people who does not like their dealer service.
And They can complain about it, because they are customers.
I am your customer as well.
But look at what you did. You asked me why I left a negative feedback comment here about your service.
If my words was not appropriate, i am sorry.
But this time, I really feel I want to see your manager.
DBCPerformance
07-30-2008, 09:24 PM
beneintray (http://www.golfmkv.com/forums/member.php?u=9707),
It is not for your best interest to attack your service advisor on public forums. At the same talking, i find it a little unprofessional on his end to post the private conversations here. At the same talking probably you pushed way too many wrong buttons.
Any aftermarket alterations to a factory tuned car may cause side effects which is of no concern to VWoA nor your dealership. The ironic part is there are bunch of stock cars suffering from so called "intake manifold runner stuck" malfunction. a decentAs service department they could have easily handled business under warranty, BUT, with that attitude I wonder what I would do if i were your SA.
This is my $0.02. I do not want to see any more posts here in this content, handle your business internally, call the service manager, owner of the dealership, GOD, but not here. We can not solve such problems here on the internet.
beneintray
07-31-2008, 10:54 AM
AbtSportsline,
I don't mean to solve problem here. Brett started first.
If it is my mistake, i am sorry.
And also I did not mention that I am complained about my aftermarket parts.
Plus, when I tried to get a service, Brett told me I cannot get due to aftermarket parts, I just walked away, because I agreed with him. (I did not say any words about it at first)
Only things I said here is Brett did not say there were 16 cars ahead of me. He told me that after i waited 2 hours. I also said price oil change was a little expensive than I used to go, where is VW authorized dealer.
Only thing I don't like is attitude of Brett.
Like I asked, is it wrong to left a feedback about the dealership on public forum?
How come he attacking me for leaving a feedback?
And yes, i might choose my words not correctly, and I also feel bad about it.
I was so upset.
I don't want to see or wrote any more about this, either.
I don't mean to solve problem here. I already contacted VWoA.
I just needed to justify my situation.

just wanted to introduce myself as another austin area member with a candy white gti. i got it a month ago and have been loving it ever since. hope everyone else is enjoying their fasts as much as i am.
one question i have is about tint. does anyone know of any good places to get my windows tinted? the vw dealership seems to be a bit too expensive, so i was hoping since some of yall live around here, i would get some good advice.
thanks in advance!
Turbo

I got mine tinted with carbon film at Sun Tint on Burnet road. Carbon film is not the most expensive nor is it the cheap stuff. It won't fade, peel or turn purple on you. I noticed an issue with one of the windows and when I brought it to Sun Tint's attention, they redid the window no questions asked.
Also, there's a place on 183 near the Duvall exit. They use a computer plotter to cut the film so it's precisely cut to the shape of your glass. They were about the same price as Sun Tint. HTH.
thanks Turbo! I'll check those out for sure. i appreciate the quick response.

ur tint looks sweet Barrett. what %s did u get? how much was it? im thinking sun tint may get my business soon.
Thanks! The picture makes it look a lot darker than in real life, because I edited it. To be honest, I didn't specify what %'s, all I said was "Get it dark as legally possible." So, there was no set percent that I asked for. And I never knew the price, since I didn't pay for it.
Ha.
Anyway, the tint isn't too dark, and I feel it's perfect.
awesome! i think 25% on sides and as dark as you want on the back is legal in Texas.
rocky5
08-03-2008, 11:00 AM
I think 20% is as dark as you can go on the sides....I'm not sure how dark mine is but it is almost TOO dark and this is from someone who tints every car I have ever owned. It was on the car when I bought it and I almost think it isn't legal. But I like it, even on the sunniest days you can't see inside at all.
u got any pics rocky5? i used to have a truck (GMC Sierra K1500) that had limo on the back and 20 on the sides i think and it was really good at hiding everything on the interior.

Hi everyone. I haven't done anything since our awesome drive around the Hill Country when we visited Llano for some BBQ and a leisurely drive home. That was months ago...
Alex...we should do something similar again sometime. I would suggest a Sunday. Driving through Burnet a few weeks ago, I passed an air museum. It's not big... run by a collection of enthusiasts who love their toys (sound familiar?) Could be a good location for a shoot with the aircraft if we can persuade them... Meet somewhere central and find the long, twisty way there...
I've read the posts on servicing and find it disappointing to see some negative stuff that should really have been resolved in private. I've had good service by Hewlett (even installed my K&N for me) but it's not convenient for me to go every time (sorry guys). I've had a couple visits to Maund now and Brant Hooks is cool. My speedo used to show 77 with the Garmin GPS showing 70. He did his best with the tech stuff vw has and now it shows about 72-73.
VW service here in the US is however no match for the dealer I used for 5 years in Germany. I got to know the folks there quite well. It helped that I drove a rare mint Tornado Red 1991 GTi G60
http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d197/newcarguy/PICT0339.jpg
and I was one of the few non Germans who spoke their language. The dealer system in Germany has a mobility guarantee - if you always have your car serviced at the dealer, no matter how old it is, you get a rental at no cost if your car breaks down - until they fix it. I used this once and it wasn't even a VW part that caused the engine to die. Maybe VWoA would consider doing the same thing... Anyway, I feel it helps if you foster a good relationship with your service writer.
Apologies for the longish post.

How about a bbq gtg at a lake? Maybe set it up at a park early enough to get a good spot and so we have some time to take a drive afterward. We did that with my old Ford truck group and it turned out great. We had the bbq over at Canyon Lake. Yeah we did this way back when gas was still under $2 a gallon and we could afford to drive trucks anywhere. Just an idea.

So, driving home from work yesterday I saw two GTIs. I was heading North on MoPac and traffic was worse than usual. I'm crawling in the left lane and notice I'm catching up to a CW GTI in the right lane. It's sporting some Huffs and I notice that the front driver's side one has some circular scrapes from where it was probably scraped along a curb. The sight made me cringe. You know traffic is bad if you can spot scrapes on rims two lanes over.
Anyway, I fought my way further North through the traffic and came upon several cars and a cop car in the grassy center median. Among those was a Black Magic GTI. I didn't notice any damage, but I was not going to slow down and rubber neck either.
Hope all you Austinites and your GTIs are doing well. I was just glad to make it home unscathed. I wasn't feeling good karma (or should I say "car"-ma).
Cheers,
Alex
That was possibly me in that cw gti haha. Travel down mopac almost every day. Yeah i had some intense scrapes on those rims but got me some new vb3s and now park as far away from the curb as possible. Btw, I live in the North Austin area near Pflugerville.

Hey y'all, wife and I bought an '07 GTI last weekend. I'm pretty active with the Austin M3 crew and organize meets pretty often. We're doing a small drive this coming Saturday 4/17 if anyone's interested (all kinds of cars go). We meet up to go to Marble Falls for breakfast at the Blue Bonnet Cafe. If you're interested, let me know to expect you...
Meet at Cedar Park High School at 8:30 am. We usually get back around 11-12. It's a great time. I'm driving my M, wife is driving the GTI. Last time we went (2 weeks ago) everyone brought their significant other.
Look forward to meeting y'all and getting some ideas for mods!

Cool, looking forward to it.
FYI, for those who don't know, Blue Bonnet doesn't take credit/debit, but they do have a cash machine.
