No pet yet, but I'm planning on a Beagle around July/August...

Failing that I'll just get a piece of fruit...

I've got a beagle/jack russell mix named Trouble, she lives up to that name, that's her in the 3rd pic. One thing you need to be aware of keeping their ears clean, they are prone to getting ear infections.

And before you ask, he's a hedgehog. And they make awesome pets...they don't eat much (and as a result, don't poop much), they don't smell, they're quiet, and they can be pretty funny.

Here's my watch dogs:evil: They pretty much eat, sleep, wrestle and explore. I tried to catch a pic of them wrestling but it happens too fast for my camera. It's like watching one of those mongoose when they fight a cobra or something. The strikes are pretty fast. Anyways, Bandito (grey) is on the bottom and Tommy (white) is on top. That only last a second or so. The way they pounce on each other is hilarious. They ambush one another from on top the couch and then play king of the mountain and crap. Anyways, here's the pics.

Bump up. (Can you tell I'm working the graveyard shift?) Here's Sampson checkin' out my schnoz:

http://home.nyc.rr.com/achen47/Personal/SampsonMeSM.jpg

Sampson was rescued off the streets of north Philadelphia. One of my fiancée's clients caught him after a month of trying and brought him in (my fiancée practiced as a veterinarian while she was getting her MBA), and in order to clean him up and treat his wounds (he'd been in a pretty viscious catfight), she and her techs had to shave off all the hair on his head and around his neck, hence the name "Sampson". (Those of you astute folks would notice that it's actually misspelled -- the biblical name is spelled "Samson".) His bloodwork came back positive for FIV (basically the feline version of HIV), and as my fiancée was pretty much the only one in the clinic that didn't have another cat at home, she wound up adopting him.

If I'm laying down on my back in bed, he likes to come up, settle/tuck himself in between my upper torso and my arm, set his chin on my shoulder, and just purr. (Altogether now: "Awwwwwwww!") Then he'll fall asleep there, and the purring turns into outright snoring.

Not sure if this will work. Here is a link to my parents' dogs. Black lab is Diezel and the Great Dane is Kali. The Great Dane can be the biggest pain in the @ss. The worst part is that she weighs 150 pounds, so when she gets fired up she pretty much does what she wants.

Just thought I'd join in the pet love and share some of our little boy that we love so much... Meet Chewy. He's a miniature, short-hair Dachshund. He's just about a year and a half old now. 12-19-2006, 03:52 PM
lol...I use to have a friend who once kept his dead chinchilla in a ziploc freezer bag stored away in his freezer for a couple years. He always thought he was going to find someone to buy the fur from him. Then again, he was a serious drug addict. I think his chinchilla had a heart attack or something. He never kept it caged up and it was constantly in hiding from his 2 pet cats.

He had a purebread Boxer that died within 6 months too, because he never got it some important immunization shots when it was a puppy and it had died of some dog disease. Come to think of it, he really sucked at owning pets.

Call.me.Junior

Parvo was probably the culprit for the boxers death. My aunt breeds chinchillas, not for their fur, they're sooooo freakin' cute when they're babies

kirk180
12-19-2006, 09:05 PM
Correct! It was Parvo. I've never had my own dog before, so I couldn't remember what it was called. Either way, turns out those shots are pretty important.

Hahaha yeah with looks like that they are asking for it. Booger is a riot, she was messing with ninja the other day. Gave them each a chew strip, and usually ninja would steal it from her, but she went in between 2 rubbermaid containers where he couldn't get her. Man he was PISSED!!!
