not usually a fan of white cars but this candy white color looks so hot on the GTI body. I especially love how the red line in the grill looks against the white of the car. :eyebulge: This is definitely at the top of my list of colors to get (this and black)

Looks like the votex oem (stock) front lip on this car, except the bottom piece is painted black.

gutentag means good day in english. Goodbye translated in german is auf wiedersehen. In spanish goodbye is adios. Avierdse is to my knowledge not even a word in spanish. I think you propably meant arrivederci which is italian for goodbye. And I also think that hello is more appropriate

It's "Wie gehts" and it means "How are you" (it's short for "Wie geht es Ihnen")
"Afierdse" is probably "auf wiedersehen" and means "goodbye"

White is my favorite. I would definitely NOT paint the black though. I think it breaks the cars height down, visually, and makes it both more aggressive, and sleaker.

I'm getting gray though, I think. To get the DSG, it means gray paint.

I have now had 2 white VW's. I had a 98 K2, and now I have the GTI....looks sweet in white. By the way, love your Avantar ( spelling?)...use the commy icon for my msn messenger...gets lots of comments.

I'm pretty sure on the car above, they are Axis wheels. If I'm not mistaken, Gunther VW (who's car I believe that was), puts Axis wheels on a lot of their cars.

Do you have any shots of the inside of your car? This was the option set I was looking at, which I'm guessing is very close to loaded, though I'm lazy and would get the stock 18" (with a rubber swap to Michelin instead of Contiental). Nice color. White looks great on this car.

Those DTM tips make some cabin noise!

Had them on my A4 and the exhaust debris they left on my cars back-end really sucked big time!

Also, I'd take the exhaust clamps on those tips and go a complete 180 degrees, so you don't see them and have less chance of contacting them if you are underneath.

Some more pics of my cw 5 door. Just finished detailing her after adding the 20th AE emblems. Basically washed with dishwashing liquid, washed with meguiars soft wash gel, clayed, washed again with meg's gold class, polished with meg's deep crystal polish, followed by 1 coat of cleaner wax and 2 coats of gold class. :thumbup:

I used to laugh at my Dad washing his car with dishwashing liquid, and now I read about it being used on a new GTI! :eyebulge:

Is is OK to wash a car with dishwashing liquid? Or would it eventually strip the clear back?

Your not supposed to ever use dishwashing liquid to wash your car, be nice to your GTI and get some quality car wash liquid!

Washing with dishwashing soap is a good way to strip all the old or current WAX off the car, It wont hurt the clear.


I do it once a year to my current vehicle before starting the 6 hour process of detailing it again. Which usually goes something like this.

Wash (detergent)
Claybar
Wash (Meguires Gold Car Wash)
poorboys ssr 2.5 with orbital buffer
Klearkote Red Moose with orbital buffer
Poorboys Natty's paste wax (Hand)
Poorboys Ex-P Sealant (hand)
Light Wash (Meguires)

After all that and drying the car gets a onceover with spray detailer for any stray waterspots.

finally a beer for me while trying not to be blinded by my shiny car. :thumbup:

The dishwashing liquid is clear coat safe. The only reason for using it as opposed to a good car wash shampoo is purely because most car wash shampoo's are designed to protect your wax coat, not get rid of it for applying a fresh coat. The dishwashing liquid is alkaline and strips all of the wax from the paint work so you can apply a fresh coat with none of the old crusty wax remaining on the paint. You can buy name brand paint cleaners such as Meguiars or whatever, but dishwashing liquid does the same job. Basically as soon as you re-apply the new wax your cars paintwork is 100% protected as it was before.

Shark-fin antenna comes standard on cars with Sat-Nav (or, I believe, Satellite Radio in the US). Cars with a normal radio come with a normal whip-antenna, except for early-model GTIs up 'til 06 model years, which came with no visible antenna at all.

Nice wheels. Gotta say though, I reckon it would look better with colour coding. The stripe down the side, coupled with the OEM skirts, look a bit rental car to me.
