It's funny you should mention that, a friend works at a NISSAN dealer and was a VW salesman awhile ago. He left VW because they tried to mess with his commission being a new guy on the block.
I called him the other day just to B.S. and he tried to get me to buy a me 350z. Awseome cars!
He said: "why do you wanna buy the new GTI? They are so unreliable."
I quickly asked him, would you still be saying that if you were at the VW dealer.... then there was silence on the phone line (crickets).

I had a baby shit yellow, 1989 Volvo 240 DL with 214,000 miles. Car was in the family for ages, dad bought it new in 89. Best car we've ever owned. Didn't have a reverse gear for the last 6000 K.... god I'm glad that cars in heaven.

Thanks!! so, took you 11 years to get back to VW. Glad you're back.

I owned 5 years(120,000miles), wrecked my Passat this Feb. Really miss this B5. Our family had a tons of good memories riding this car. Wish there were B5.5 1.8T wagon in Japanese market, but we didn't... So I bought GTI instead. I know this car runs great, but I really miss Passat.

New B6 2.0T have just arrived in the market last weekend. I testdrived the new wagon, 2.0T+6AT(no DSG model). Ahhhh, very dissapointed.

My very last car was a 99.5 Jetta mkIV 2.slow. And let me tell you, was that thing boring! Before that, there was the corrado. Though I still have the SLC. I love that thing like a member of the family. It's a total work in progress, or more appropriately, a work in improvement. It only has 70k miles and is in great shape.

However, I recently picked up the 06 GTI and love it to death. Great car! I'm very happy with my decision.

I'll have to get some pics of both cars soon. Though I'm waiting on some nice wheels for the corrado, so it will be a while.

Not really...I'm not racing as much as I used to back in the day. I was doing track stuff locally w/car buddies and of course RWD was the way to go. Nowadays, I just every now and then speed and take a spirited drive. I wanted more space for people and cargo and better gas mileage and the GTI fit the bill. I just need to stay out of boost to make that gas mileage work but it's soooooooo good.

well, i learned my lesson...no more major performance mods on an auto...just way to hard to sell. one of the big reasons i'm getting the GTI is because of the DSG. the b5 tiptronic lags way too much.

pretty damn fast for a fwd car. i made 280whp @7psi running 10.5:1 afr which is really rich, and on stock compression/stock internals. i made the kit from scratch and pieced it together. it was a very fun car to drive even though i only owned it for 1 year.
