DSG paddles not working

Suddenly my DSG paddles don't do anything, no shifts. Anybody experienced this before and have a solution? It will allow manual shifts with the gear selector but just not paddles.

Any help is appreciated, i'm going to check vagcom codes

I would bet the other controls dont work on the wheel. Its the clock spring and it happens alot on VW's. If you have an aftermarket head unit dealer wont fix it most of the time. If your stock they will fix for free and from what I have found its a stocked part and takes a day. Mine went out and I had to do it myself and it cost me $140 for part at dealer.

Vagcom scan said paddle shifter ground short. Is it possible the cable connecting paddles is loose? I installed the OSIR paddles a month ago, maybe it just came loose?

I tried to clear codes and see if it worked but it didn't :( other steering wheel controls work fine

I had my left downshift paddle act-up intermittently, and then quit working altogether. The manual shifts up and down could still be made consistently in the DSG floor shifter. Mine ended-up being a bad DSG paddle that was replaced under warranty. Since you have installed different paddles it sounds like that might be the smoking gun as you mention, and that something is not making a good connection?

I've got the same problem, and it's intermittent. VAG-COM returns

When I get some time, in the next couple of months, I'll pull the steering wheel, airbag, and replace both of the DSG paddle switches.

Pretty unlikely both went at the same time. More likely an electrical problem like the spring.

You need a new steering wheel.

Pretty unlikely both went at the same time. More likely an electrical problem like the spring.

It could be the clock spring, this is why I've been patient. If an airbag fault shows up, then I'll know for sure, I think (but so far, 3,500 miles later, no other steering wheel related faults have appeared). I've looked at Transmission module, Measuring block 003 to test the paddle switches on the steering wheel. I noticed that when depressing the paddles (vehicle stationary, no motor), it sometimes does not register the event. However, if I press very firmly, quickly, (i.e, quite deliberately), it does, almost always, register. At this point, I'm thinking it's the switches.

My problem looks slightly different from bwood. VAGCOM reports:

I've had this happen to me once a few months back. And just recently but I haven't scanned for codes yet. But I wouldn't doubt it's the same codes. It only happens on the right paddle for me.

I'm having the same issue but only on the upshift side. Vag-Com gives me the same code. I'll have it fixed on next oil change.

which paddles doesn't work?

i had mine fixed long time ago (actually 25k and i'm at 46k now) when Up paddle shift doesn't work while the downshift paddle works. i went to the dealer and it they fixed under warranty. on my paperwork it said "While in tiptronic mode vehicle will not shift up. ran guided fault finding system found fault for up shift button. further inspection found up shift button malfunctioning." and they ordered the up shift button for me to replace my older one
