So I was 2 blocks from my house when this dipshit tries to make an illegal U-turn on a 4 lane road with a divided median. I was traveling in the left lane one car behind him when the car in front of me slammed on its brakes and rear ended him. I saw this coming around the slight curve and slammed on my brakes. The accident was unavoidable because there was a car traveling next to me in the right lane and the road was wet. My car went into a full skid and at the last second I jerked the wheel to the right to avoid hitting her directly from behind. the accident felt pretty hard but if it was not for my quick thinking it could have been alot worse. no one was injured in the accident which I am very thankful for. As I was calling 911 the second and first driver were standing in the median as multiple cars almost rear end my car in the right lane. The first driver (who caused the whole accident) gets the seconds drivers info and then within 2 min of the accident he hops in his car and leaves the scene. neither of us got any of his information or license plate #

Unless your frame is bent, I wouldn't even trip... simple body work/replacement OEM parts.

Though I'd recommend you have them look at the suspension on that side... Control arm, axles, tie rod, steering column, hub, brake lines, and the strut.

Yea I just hope the suspension is not damaged because I don't know if my policy covers mods. the plus side is my rock chips will be all gone and my previous fender damage will be repaired

That sucks... I had identical damage from being cut-off/ sideswiped by a truck... his back bumper caught my fender and ripped it off along with half of the front bumper..

Hopefully the insurance company won't give you hassle as your tires look below the legal limits.

Tire thread makes a huge difference in the wet, as does the type of tire you use. I recently switched to summer tires, and they grip in the wet much better than the OEM all seasons.

Given the fact that it was raining and you knew your tires were gone to shit you should have been even farther away than usual ..this is coming from someone that learned the hard way :wink:

wow dude you know nothing about the situation. The road I was traveling on had a sweeping blind left turn with large bushes and trees in the median. I was more than 6+ car lengths behind the car in front of me. Basically nothing I could do to see this accident coming. I am aware of insurance ruling a rear end accident my fault, but I do not agree with it. Thanks for your bullshit comment though :sm3:

Yeah I saw the road that the accident happened...wet road and a speed limit of 50 mph???? Yeah dude, when someone makes an illegal u-turn with oncoming traffic I don't care what happens...there is going to be an accident. The police officer that was there almost had his car hit with his fucking lights on while he was on the scene!!! Trust me man, as crazy of a downhill sweeping turn it is I'm sure there are a lot of accidents there. The only reason there is a break in the divider is so people can make a left onto the perpendicular street. I don't even know why I'm trying to explain this, but it wasn't reckless IMO and I bet a LOT of people would have hit the car in front of them. Another reason why it sucks that when you hit someone from behind its ALWAYS your fault. I think there are a few circumstances where that isn't true....just sayin'. End rant.
