I mentioned in another thread about some issues I was having with a fog light the dealership that sold the car.

Anyway, I pulled the assembly off and it seems to be a Hella brand foglamp with a 55W bulb. My guess if the failure was caused by what looks to be an improper o-ring seal that allowed moisture in. I can see where the o-ring wasn't seated correctly.

There appears to be some reflector damage where the bulb looks like it fried.

I'd rather drop a sledge hammer on my foot than go back to the dealership where I purchased the car.

I couldn't find an exact match online and it also seems like they are only available in pairs/kits.

I'm thinking I might be able to repair the assembly an put a new bulb in.

First of all how does one pull the bulb off?

* edit *

Nevermind, I figured out how to get the bulb off.

i don't get it....do you need help with something?

anyways to save everyone time it is a 9006 bulb

and vwvortex.com has a lot of fog lights for sale and it would be cheaper to buy the used ones in a set then buy a single new one.

No, fine now. It was much simpler than I had expected.

It makes me wonder why the dealership had such an issue with being able to do the work. I was able to identify the problem, fix the assembly o-ring seal, polish the lens and put new bulbs in in about 20 minutes having never touching one of these things before.

However, that Hella fog light kit was kind of cheap looking. I'm not sure what the VW OEMs are like but for $190 a piece they should be damn good.
